Description
Discover the whole grain goodness of amaranth, an ancient grain (actually a seed) that was a staple food of the early Aztecs. Gluten free and a source of complete protein, amaranth seed contains all the essential amino acids, including lysine, which is lacking in most grains. It makes a delicious hot cereal or polenta, or you can add this grain's pleasant texture and extra nutrition to baked goods or homemade granola.

The first time I tried to prepare the amaranth I tried toasting it in my toaster oven. Unfortunately I burned it. So far I haven't tried to cook it by simply boiling it.

Followed directions exactly. Took over 50 minutes to cook and ended up a horrible porridge. Had to take lid off increase heat. Then I saw comments elsewhere that said use way less water.

I liked the Amaranth, but the cooking instructions left a lot to be desired. I followed the directions to a T, but my Amaranth was still crunchy. Good product, bad directions on how to cook it.
I love the organic amaranth! Thanks Bob's Red Mill!

I bought this for my girlfriend after reading this article in The Guardian "‘It could feed the world’: amaranth, a health trend 8,000 years old that survived colonization". I have eaten amaranth for years. My girlfriend is new to it, and she likes it a lot.

My husband’s favorite gain. We bought some amaranth from another vendor and it was full of stones so we are very happy with Bob’s Red Mill!

It’s been a while since I cooked this grain. This is my second time coming back to it. When I cooked this, I failed miserably. I had to watch a video on YouTube on how to cook it properly and now I am a master at it. I love this stuff! Looks and tastes like quinoa when cooked.I eat it for breakfast every other day. It is phenomenal!! It is a nutritional powerhouse with amazing health benefits!

I am now including more whole grains for my breakfast. I just added amaranth as one of my choices. It is tasty and filling. I’m thankful your company had quite a variety of whole grains to choose from.

Tiny, Fun Grains With Nice Taste and Texture

I started buying Bobs' amaranth when I wanted to try "Yamaranth" (our name for the yam & amaranth burrito recipe in the Bob's Red Mill cookbook). Its a fun grain because its so tiny. When cooked it keeps its shape and stays firm but chewable, and acts as a healthy thickener in this recipe and others, providing a fun texture.

My new favorite breakfast food. Very earthy and mild flavor. Has the mouth feel of sushi roe, but tastes NOTHING like it. Love the taste and how it feels eating it.

Ideal low GI replacement for pasta, Quaker oats (or anything made by that tobacco company owned corporation) especially for people with Celiac disease, better flavor too. Boil it, add strained tomatoes and Mozzarella made without slaughterhouse enzymes for those who object to killing animals for food, leather, fur, etc.
