Q: How much tablespoons of coffee is recommended if we fill it to the top with water.. at first i thought it was 12 cups so I tried adding like 18 tablespoons but i feel like that might be too much?? Help and thanks!

A: I use 4 scoops or healing tablespoons of coffee, stir and refrigerate for next day.

A: Yes, the BEAN Cold Brew Maker does come with an instruction booklet that provides a basic guide on how much ground coffee and water to use. For our French presses, we generally recommend one Bodum scoop (included) per “cup” of coffee (4oz) you are making. For cold brew, we suggest doubling that amount. Keep in mind that factors like the type of beans, roast, grind size, and steeping time can all impact the flavor, so we encourage you to experiment with different ratios and techniques to find your ideal brew. A: This Cold Brew Coffee Maker features a French Press filter that is used at the end of the brewing process. Simply switch the refrigerator storage lid for the French Press lid and slowly press down using the weight of your hand. The filter will push all of the grounds to the bottom of the coffee maker and you will be able to pour a cup of smooth homemade Cold Brew.

A: For hot coffee it's recommended to use 1 rounded tablespoon or 1 Bodum Scoop for every 4oz of water. For cold brew it's recommended to double this and use 2 rounded tablespoons or 2 Bodum Scoops for every 4oz of water.

Q: I’ve never used a French press or a cold brew maker before. Some reviews say you can drink from the same pitcher of coffee for a week, as long as it goes back into the fridge. Don’t the coffee grounds get moldy/funky after being wet for a week?

A: Hello, if you keep in fridge you should have no issues after several. When you press the press down it separates the grinds from the water preventing soggy grinds from sitting in the carafe. Enjoy!

A: Absolutely! The double wall design will also keep your brew warmer for longer. Use this the same way you would a normal French press. Add Hot (Not boiling) Water. Add Ground Coffee. Brew for 4 Minutes. Press Down and Done!

The plunger part warped in the top rack of our dishwasher and now we can't get the lid to fit, and it leaks when we pour. It's supposed to be dishwasher safe.

This was not a good cold brew option for me. The coffee was so watered down it was a waste of coffee. I started using it for hot brew, but that cracked the plastic after a years use. It was great for hot brew as it's a large pot. I wish bodum would make affordable glass options over 8 cups. The plunger has to be pushed down twice or you will get grounds, cold or hot, doesn't matter.

This cold brew coffee pot is described as 12 cup capacity, and to the brim - yes, it does handle 12 cups of liquid. However this is a french-press style jug and if you want to fit that plunger in there is no way you can fill to the brim. You’ll most likely fill to 10 and a half, but that isn’t accounting for the 3 cups of coarse coffee you’ll need in order to actually brew. In the end you’ll be left with about 7 to 8 cups of actual liquid cold brew, of which will not be concentrated so you can’t even cut with water to extend. The brew process takes 12-24 hours according to the instructions(15 hours by Starbucks standards) so that’s a long time to wait for 3/4 a pitcher of standard cold brew. Also speaking of instructions, you’re without a paddle on this one. It says to add double the amount you would normally use in a regular coffee machine???? They couldn’t even give us a scoop amount or fill line. The scoop is just a tablespoon which can be smaller than other coffee scoops according to what you might use. Overall it’s very frustrating what’s hidden from you, it’s an 8 cup coffee press in the end. If you can just buy cold brew in the large 5 dollar bottles I would just do that. It uses a lot of coffee, like half a pound per brew. I unfortunately can’t buy the bottles because I need decaf for heart issues and nowhere I go offers decaf cold brew. It’s delicious if you get it right tho! Good luck.

This is an attractive unit, it brews coffee well, and has a great price. You definitely need a coarse grind, any smaller and you will have particulates in your coffee. There is a bead on the end of the rod that protrudes about 3/8" which keeps you from pressing all the coffee out. All the grounds are in the bottom of the container and you have to dig them out with a spatula before cleaning. If I had to do it again, I would pick a brewer with a suspension chamber that can be removed from the unit for cleaning, something like the Primula Pace Brewer.
