The kettle was amazing at the beginning, however, the lid stopped opening. My husband bought another one and it’s doing the same thing. Kettle should last long given its price poin.

I absolutely loved my tea kettle until the lip seal around the glass started to lift. It’s near impossible to put back and just flairs out.

I really like this kettle, had it for almost two years. The top doesnt open anymore, the hinge broke so I have to use my nails or something to open it and fill it with water. Otherwise, works well

Surely the best of the glass kettles. I returned another brand recently because it smelled of plastic. This one is nicely made, it boils quickly, turns itself off, the lid opens "politely" and it's a pleasure to use.

While the kettle functions well for boiling water, the top lid failed after a few years as other reviews documented, clearly a design flaw. There also seems to be no way obvious to replace the lid with a new part from the spare parts listed on the website, a disappointment. Below I checked that I would not recommend this product to a friend based on lid failure.

This looks like a common problem. After almost 4 years of use the lid has broken and won’t open anymore. We have to use our nails while pressing the button down to help it open. I’d be interested in a fix or replacement part as otherwise it’s been a good kettle.

This is our 2nd kettle. First one still works great but we needed another and wouldn't buy anything other than Breville.

Love this kettle so much. I make tea often, and it’s such a pretty kettle that’s quick to heat up water. Unfortunately the plastic part connecting the lid to the kettle broke (I’m very gentle as I adore this kettle), and now the lid won’t pop up as it’s supposed to. Overall would recommend the product, but beware. There isn’t a replacement part so I’m stuck. May have to find another company for my next kettle purchase.

This electric kettle was life-changing and I was delighted with it in every respect, until the lid-opening mechanism failed. The release button still works, but the lid doesn't rise on its own; I have to manually lift it to fill the kettle. I tried cleaning the hinge, thinking it might be hard-water deposits that were preventing the action, but it didn't help. If I release the latch and turn the kettle upside down, it does open (with gravity assist), so I'm thinking the spring may have weakened over time. Not a huge deal, but a little disappointing since Breville products are priced at a premium over other brands. I've had it for about four years, so maybe I'm expecting too much?

Had this product for 2 years and recently the handle broke and now lid won't shut. Only way I can use it if I put something on it... Worked well at first but is clearly cheaply made

I bought my Chrystal Clear kettle after inspecting all the kettles on display in a store. I decided not to buy online as there were reviews of other kettles that were too heavy, or not made of expected material, a plastic chrome coloured handle, not metal. It took ages summing up the features, colour, weight, the look until I found the Chrystal Clear under the counter! Clear marking of minimum, maximum, number of cups; not too heavy; easy switch on with indicator light; automatic turn off safety feature if switched on with no water; automatic turn off when boiling; attractive lid with glass circular panel; attractive overall with chrome, glass and gray. The kettle boils quickly and the spout pours well. Everthing I want in a kettle. Only negative comment, it is a bit tall to place on the sink divide without a bit of a tilt, but you get used to that. Very pleased with my purchase.

The lid got stuck and would not close. The rubber sealer came out from its groove and could stretch back in place, causing the lid to stay half open. This caused a hard time feeling the water, but more importantly, the kettle would no longer shut off automatically. I have had the kettle for two years and enjoyed it until, out of the blue, it failed. I love Bervill products, and I recently bought a traffic compact microwave.

Well it seams as if I not the only one who has had an issue with this kettle. I've had mine for about 5 years now and the lid broke on mine as well. I've had much less costly kettles that have lasted much much longer than this one. Very dissappointed!!!!

After I had this kettle for approximately one year the lid stopped working. I have to put my fingernails in-between the lid and the kettle to open it. This is annoying because every time I have to fill it I have to open it with my nail. Also, mine continues to have bad dark stains on the bottom. I cleaned it with vinegar and baking powder but it doesn't seem to go away.

I bought this Kettle about three years ago. It’s been a great little Kettle. It looks nice. It’s easy to keep clean because you can see all the debris on the bottom. Unfortunately, just this week the lid stopped going up and down automatically after pushing the button. The lid also popped open all by itself, allowing the water to boil all the way almost to dry before I caught it, leaving my entire kitchen full of water vapour. Probably buy another one anyway because I’m used to it.
