Q: If I would like to keep water at 140 F is it possible to preset at that temp?

A: 160 F is the lowest you can go with this model. Then it goes up by 5 F, up to 212 F.
submitted byChris B - 5 months agoA: On average, the kettle will be triggered to reboil the water once it has cooled 15 degrees below the temperature it was set to. For the higher boiling temperatures (ex: 212°F – Black Tea), Keep Warm will activate at 190°F to re-boil the water. For the lower heating temperatures (ex: 175°F – Green Tea), Keep Warm will activate at 160°F and bring the temperature back to 175°F.

A: Yes. The rim is plastic, as is the spout , the inside of the lid and the mesh that the water flows through.

Q: How fine/course is the mesh in the infuser? I brew Rooibos teas and they typically need a finer mesh (like 0.33m).

A: 1750 Watts - 120 volts. It is not battery powered nor does it have a USB port. You could use a large 12 volt battery connected to a 2000 Watt inverter, but it wouldn’t last long. This would not work on any 120 volt outlet in your automobile.

The electric Kettle is easy to use, and I love the fact that it keeps the water warm. I did not need the infuser as I make my tea by the cup, not by the pot. Sorry, but I am a traditional tea drinker and only make a pot of tea, by the traditional method, when I have guests.

Bought this after buying and returning a Cuisinart hot water kettle. Even though the Chefman has a 1 year warranty and the Cuisinart a 3 year warranty, I thought the Cuisinart had a number of design flaws that make it less useable than the Chefman. Positive: glass tank with metal bottom makes the kettle sturdy and extremely easy to see the water level. Much, much better than kettles with just a "window" to see the water level. Because of the large heater area at the bottome of the water tank, it does heat very fast, faster than any other kettle I've owned. The lid comes completely off and the top opening is big enough to get your entire hand in the kettle for cleaning or drying as needed. Temperature setttings are on the handle making it very easy to see and set with touch sensitive areas. One feature that might not be obvious, but I really like is after you start the heat process the temperature of the water is actively dislplayed on the handle, so if you are impatient you can see how the heating is progressing. Audible and visible signals for when the water has reached temperature. Negatives: I have not found the metal tea infuser that fits under the lid all that useful. The holes to let water flow are very small, so it takes much longer to steep tea in the infuser than if you just put a tea bag in the kettle. To be fair, the instructions say the infuser is for loose tea, which should allow for better flow of water around the tea leaves than a bag, but I have yet to try loose tea to determine if it does work better. Base is pretty light weight, but have not had an issue with it. Overall a great value for the price. Great functionallity at a reasonable price. Has a standard 1 year warranty, but expecting it to last much longer than that.

I love the size and how quickly it comes to a boil. The temperature sustaining feature is very helpful so that you can heat up the water and come back in 15 min and still have boiling water. The top is a bit inconvenient. I prefer a spring loaded top not one I have to take out in order to fill the kettle, but given the other benefits I am able to work with it. Now ask me after I pop out the lid, set it down and then cannot locate it for 5 minutes (ha). Definitely will recommend for the size and rapid heat.

I had to purchase a new Chefman electric kettle, as the one I was using for the prior 2 years, was acting strange and not functioning properly. I may take the old one apart to see if I can fix it but I absolutely LOVE this newer model! It has a tea infuser that attaches to the lid and it’s easy to put on and take it off. This newer model feels sturdier and the glass seems a bit thicker in this model. It boils water at about twice the time as my prior model, which is super helpful as I use this for not only tea, and hot cocoa…but also when I need hot water when cooking. My Chefman electric kettle is my go-to multiple times a day! Another thing I discovered is this newer model also has a much quieter/softer beep sounds than my older model, which is great as I wake up early most mornings well before sunrise and before the rest of the household is awake!
