Q: Does this detergent leave any odor?

A: Yes, it does. It took me about 40 of the 55 loads in the bottle to figure out how to use just enough to clean the dishes and not being left with too much of the fake lemon scent. (It shouldn't be called free & clear, which typically denotes free from scents.)

Q: How many loads can one get out of a bottle? How many oz used per load?

A: We have soft city water and only run full loads. Got 55 loads out of it. It was extremely difficult to dose in a way that cleaned the dishes without leaving a disgusting, fake lemon scent. (I bought this not realizing that 'free & clear' did NOT mean no scent, unlike with pretty much every other product out there.)

As an approximate average, consumers may use 62.5 mL of gel per load.

Q: did the formula changed in the past year? It used to be good, now I have to double the amount used otherwise dishes still really dirty as if they weren't washed. really disappointed

Q: Is this septic system safe?

A: All Cascade products have been thoroughly evaluated to use in homes with septic tanks. As long as you follow the recommended amounts as directed, they will not damage your plumbing system with a properly functioning septic tank. This includes aerated systems, aerobic systems, and non-aerobic systems.

A: We updated the emzyme to be more powerful in our gel, but less will be dosed to account for the increased activity.

It uses both essential oils and enzymes to break up and wash away messes, but has no phosphates or chlorine bleach. This is not a review. I want to know if this product is 'free and clear' of the abrasive stuff that seems to be in all of the products now. I just want a liquid that won't be hard on my dishwasher. I am so tired of having to dig out powder/granular residue out of the bottom of my dishmachine. PLEASE tell me you haven't eliminated all products like the old traditional Cascade liquid that was free of all that crap! Thank you.

This leaves a horrible residue all over dishes and in your dishwasher. Might be okay if you have super soft water, but I don’t even technically have “hard” water and this left the worst residue I’ve ever seen.

It can fight against the detergent to allow minerals and food particles to settle back on dishes, which results in a film. To get the best results, be sure your water is at least 120 degrees Fahrenheit/49 degrees Celsius. Also, when loading the machine, be sure all items will get the full spray and that your spray arms aren’t blocked. I don't know what Cascade puts in their products that makes them smell so bad, it's awful. I could smell it before I even opened the bottle. This "gel" has a very odd consistency, it's more like a foam with a lot of air incorporated into it. The "clean" dishes came out with a greasy film on them and some of the silverware still had food residue. The store brand dish detergent gel I usually use works far better for half the price.

This does absolutely nothing. I literally have to wash my dishes before I use this. Even then it was still not great. I thought something was wrong with my dishwasher. Turns out it is this product that sucks. The normal cascade works waaaayyy better.

This isn't something we'd expect, especially since our products undergo such extensive quality testing to ensure optimal performance. We're here to help and would like to share that hard water and other factors may sometimes have an effect on cleaning performance. Dishes that are still dirty could be caused by several different reasons. One is that the water pressure may be too low. Run the dishwasher when no other household demands for water are running (showers, laundry, etc). Another could be that the wash cycle may not be long enough, so try a longer/heavy cycle. Lastly, the dishwasher may be overloaded. Make sure items aren't too close together or stacked too tightly. In regard to your concern with using our Pods, all of our products fully dissolve and do not clog when used as directed. I tried another brand that was similar and it did not work well at all. Bought this and have had no issues with dirty dishes. Cascade and Dawn really do get the job done. Scent is light. Formula is clear. The squirt option is a more cost effective route to go vs. dishwasher drop in tablets.

LOVE this product. It is the only product, since the product you used to make that had bleach in it, that removes the odor of egg that lingers on plates, glasses and silverware. My goal was to go "natural" in what I use to clean dishes but the natural products didn't seem strong enough to remove food. I call this product the "tweener" and it works great.

This isn’t a ‘free & clear’ detergent. The lemon smell is strong but when the dishwasher is done, it doesn’t leave a smell on the dishes or utensils. Unless you have silicone based, plastic and stainless steel dishes/utensils/cups. The smell even transferred into the food and you can taste it. I’m not sure why they made this and call it free & clear when it’s heavy in lemon fragrance. Save your money and get something else.

Greetings, Chelle, thanks for purchasing Cascade Free & Clear Gel with Lemon Essence scent. As the lightest of all the fragrances we use, we always suggest giving Free & Clear a try if scent is bothersome for you. Because we don't expect Cascade to impart the of the product taste into food, it's possible the soap wasn't completely rinsed off, or the dishes have become porous. If certain items always pick up a flavor, they're probably worn to the point of being porous and should be washed by hand. It might help to know that cast iron and plastic items can absorb flavors. It may also help to check the dishwasher sprayer arms to make sure they are not clogged. To ensure the dishwasher is rinsing properly, place a cup or mug on the top rack right side up, so it can collect water. Run a dishwasher cycle. The cup/mug should be filled with water at the end of the cycle. If it isn't, it's an indicator that the dishwasher is not rinsing properly. Need more help?
