I usually make my own hardwood charcoal but ran out and needed a bag. Found Cowboy Hardwood Briquets and liked them. If I ever need to buy a bag of charcoal again, this is the one.
Looking for another brand

I love the coal. My only wish is that they stop putting these rocks in the bags. Maybe I would get more charcoal if they didn't do this! Found in numerous bags!
I WOULD DEFINITELY BUY THIS BRAND AGAIN & AGAIN.

I have use this charcoal to grill 100 +steaks, and smoke/grill over 80 lb of chicken. This charcoal is great, price-wise quality wise and taste wise. If any review says their food tastes like lighter fluid that's a USER ERROR. I'm trying to find where I can buy a full pallet of this brand for a good price.
This is the best charcoal Ive ever used.

I sell bbq and grill plates and I do catering. This charcoal doesnt take long to get started, it burns slowly and evenly. It doesnt have strong fumes chocking you. I grilled over 80 pounds of meat with 1 bag. Any other charcoal I would have needed more. Definitely wont use any other brand.

Hard to light, hard to stay lit and hot. Do yourself a favor and choose a different brand.

I want to say.... GOOD JOB!!!!!! I used your Hardwood Charcoal Briquettes on a whim this past weekend. First time I have ever used and Cowboy Brand fuel. I chose them because my local supplier didn't have my usual Competition Oak Briqs. I must say... I was very surprised and pleased with your product!!! I am running an OKJ Bronco, was smoking 3 pork butts. I used 3/4 of a bag of your product and it lasted my full cook at 250°F!!!!! There was no half burned briqs.. there wasn't even any rock sized pieces left. The briqs completely burned, turned to ash, and fell through to the ash pan. JUST. AS. THEY. SHOULD!!!!! You have managed to produce a high quality product for a very affordable price!!! When catering, price and quality is very important. By keeping your prices down, I can keep my prices down. In turn, I can supply my customers, and myself, superior products, below my competitors! I look forward to trying more of your products. I just wanted to drop you a big ol' THANK YOU!!!!! 👊🏻💨💨💨

I'm a competition cook and can honestly say this is some of the best charcoal I've ever used. I've been smoking meat for over 35 years and have tried them all. The quality, value, performance and most of all the flavor are all top notch.
Reminds me of Briquets from 50 Years Ago-Outstanding!

I've been grilling and smoking meat for over 50 years. Back then, most all briquets were of the more natural variety and gave better results than most do today. Kingsford has really lost their original quality with less product for more money, more binders producing a crazy amount of ash, and short burn time. (The ridge idea is another ridiculous marketing concoction to give us less product for more money). Cowboy Charcoal Briquets gives me a far superior product than any of the major labels at a very competitive price, including a very long burn time for longer cooks. I challenge anyone to find a better charcoal at any price.

I have been smoking meat for over 20 years now and have tried almost every type of fuel source . I have never tried these briquettes and was nervous because as of late I am using lump charcoal . Well the briquettes did not disappoint! The ash was very minimal, burn time was long and steady . Temps were similar to lump . The best of all was the taste, these briquettes have a nice Smokey flavor . I was rolling thin blue smoke for 8 hours . I will purchase these again . The ease of use ( stacking and staying place ) was a nice change from lump charcoal ( where you are dealing with pieces of different sizes ) .Do yourself a favor and try some of these briquettes !
I will continue to buy this product.

I've tried and use several different types of charcoal from Kingsford to Royal Oak and B & B, Was looking to more product for the money and seen the twin pack. Well I grabbed it and it was awesome in my 980 gravity fed smoker. Such a clean burning charcoal and the flavor that it gives your food without adding wood chucks like the others. I've smoked 16 slabs of ribs with 8 lbs charcoal for a family picnic and they Love and Raved them! 😀👍🏿
I like it better then K.F., or R.O.

Been using cowboy brand for years, started buying the briquets this spring. Now I do a hybrid style of smoking start with cowboy lump first 2-4 hours, then switch to briquettes for rest of smoking time ( a lot more economical, usually running 2 or 3 smokers) and smells and taste real close to all lump. Only real complaint would be when starting in chimney smokes like a banshee
Definitely the best.

After 6+ years of purchasing this Cowboys charcoal, I am a little disappointed. After my last purchase and using it the first time, I suddenly found after the fire burned out I see rocks in my grill. This was shocking because I never seen this before. Is this how you offset the cost of each bag by putting rocks into them.

Great product. Used it for the first time today and am impressed with several features, specifically: larger briquettes burn longer, no artificial additives, great price point, among others. I have grilled/ bbq'ed for many years and have tries all the brands, Kingsford, Royal Oak, Embers, etc. an d this is now my go to brand. Please don't change anything about it!

I had started to see this brand being brought up on multiple BBQ and smoking pages so I decided to give it a try. It took a very long time to get the briquettes started. Once it was started there was a lot of smoke. I was still hopeful cause the smoke smelled like a good old fashion campfire. After pulling my chicken off the grill I took a bite and it tasted like straight lighter fluid. Needles to say the food was tossed in garbage. I empty my grill of the rest of the briquettes then loaded it back up with my normal brand and cooked more chicken. No lighter fluid taste.

Since Weber discontinued their charcoal, this is the best out there. No dumb gimmicks like ridges or small briquettes. When you light a chimney of small briquettes, they are half gone by time the top ones are turning white. no kingsford stench!
