I gave my 10 yr old granddaughter this for her birthday. Big disappointment. Instructions weren’t clear and it was almost impossible to put together without globe breaking. A waste of time and money.

We're sorry to hear of your difficulty - based on your description of the issue, it sounds like the clay may have been assembled on the wrong side of the base. The globes will not fit unless the shallow side without the removable stopper faces upward; that is the side that the clay should be built upon. This detail is listed on the front page of the instructions: Place the base on your workstation with the shallow side facing up. This Is the side you will decorate. Do not decorate the side with the removable stopper. Luckily, you can correct the issue by removing and replacing the clay onto the correct side.

They are very difficult to fill. Thus not water globes. My granddaughter was very disappointed

We're sorry to hear you are experiencing difficulties filling your water globes. It is necessary to gently lift the funnel so that some air is introduced, otherwise the water will not empty the funnel. You can find a helpful video on doing so here: https://youtu.be/B30On5vLqqM

The kids had fun creating their water globes the only downside is that it leaks a little when you shake it
Pleased but not super easy

These globes looked nice when they were done, but there were some complicated steps involved in making them. Younger users may find it difficult to do them on their own. Also, the globes took awhile to dry and finish, making it hard to complete during a play date. But, the process was fun and rewarding overall.

My daughter loved this craft. For the most part it was all fine, except when we got to filling the water. Something about the way that air bubbles cannot escape makes it difficult to fill with water, maybe it needs two holes instead of one. I found a way around it though, and used a syringe to push water into the hole. This was also nice because on one of them I noticed air coming out of a different area where we didn’t glue well enough, so I was able to fix it before it leaked. I noticed a lot of people saying there isn’t enough clay to fill the bottoms plus decorate, but there is. The directions specify to make a very thin layer, and that’s really all that’s needed, you don’t need to use as much as you think you do, as long as the whole bottom and all of the edges are covered. We did all 3 with decorations and still had some left over.
Did not dry, even after a month!

We made these over a month ago, and they still haven't dried. The clay is still moldable! We can't finish this craft, so we have absolute garbage and a very unhappy 5 year old.

Please note: Our instructions have been updated, removing the need for craft glue and any drying time. There is no longer a need to use glue to secure the figurines or wait for them to dry. Thank you for your patience as we continue to update this information. The instruction "let it dry" referred to the glue and not the modeling clay, which will never dry.
Such a cute craft

I’m surprised by the bad reviews. We followed the directions and everything was perfect! No leaking and nothings falling apart. We had clay leftover! We just let the clay and glue dry overnight before adding water the following day! So cute!

My child loved everything about this but after we sealed the globe with glue as instructed and waited for the glue to dry, the snow globe leaked water when my child shook it.

We're sorry to hear this. From your description, it's possible the dome was not placed on the correct side of the base and didn't seal properly, or the clay was not pushed fully to edge to form a tight seal. Please reach out to us directly at consumer@fabercastell.com so that we may assist further.

This was so much fun to create with my daughters. They came out perfect- no leaking! Just follow the directions. The clay does not (and wont) need to fully harden in order to add water. I thought it would and we waited over night and clay was still moldable. Tip: use clay sparingly amongst the 3 globes

We followed all the directions and all three of the globes leak.

We're sorry to hear of the issue. If the clay is assembled on the wrong side of the base, the domes won't seal properly. Please contact us at consumer@fabercastell.com so we may assist you further.

We created the globes on 11/04 and the clay still isn't dry for us to add water. Also, the amount of clay given for 3 globes was definitely not enough.
1 reply from Faber Castell team team - 1 year ago
The instruction to "let it dry" refers to the glue if you choose to permanently adhere the created figures - not the clay.
Not enough clay

Not enough clay. The image on the front shows options for building clay figures inside the globe. There isn’t enough clay included. You have to use half of it to cover the bottoms and then you are left with three colors.
1 reply from Faber Castell team team - 2 years ago
We're sorry to hear you ran out of clay prematurely. Only a very thin layer is needed at the bottom of the globes. We tested for enough clay to do this and create the figures as instructed, with added instructions for mixing clay colors to create more than 3.

I bought it for my daughters sleepover and the girls had a lot of fun making them! They really are cute. The downside is you don’t get a lot of clay for 3 globes and they easily break and get cloudy.

Great idea, but too cloudy with clay!

The clay makes the water super cloudy so you can’t see anything! If it had just been plastic pieces to glue, that would have been better!
1 reply from Faber Castell team team - 2 years ago
We're not sure why your water was cloudy, as we've not had that experience when testing. If too much soap is used on the inside of the dome, it could create the issue. Please contact us at consumer@fabercastell.com if we can be of any further assistance.
