submitted byXxx - 1 year agoA: Hello! We regularly employ rigorous third-party testing to ensure that our Slow Cookers meet or exceed all applicable laws, regulations and industry standards, including those related to lead content. Consumers should feel confident that our Slow Cookers are safe to use. The glaze of our ceramic pots is a silicate made of quartz, feldspar and clay. The glaze is covered over the pot, fired at high temperature to melt the glaze and then cooled down. The glaze liquid is then turned into coating the same as glass film on the surface of the pot. This does not contain PTFE & PFOA. The FDA specifies allowable amounts of lead, cadmium and other substances. All the glazes that we use meet or exceed FDA requirements. If you have any more questions, please reach out to us via https://www.crock-pot.com/support/contact-us or through LiveChat. We’re available Mon.-Fri. 9am -5pm Eastern Time. Thank you! Q: Should my crockpot smell the first time I use it?
A: Hello. Thank you for reaching out to us. It is normal for for your Crock-Pot 7qt Cook & Carry One Touch Programmable Slow Cooker to give off a slight odor the first time you use it. This comes from harmless residues left over from manufacturing and protective coatings that burn off during initial heating. The smell should fade after the first use or two. We recommend washing the stoneware and lid before cooking, and running your first cycle in a well‑ventilated area. If you notice a strong burning smell, smoke, or if the odor persists after several uses, please discontinue use and reach out to us via our Contact Us form on our website. We’re available Mon.-Fri. 9am - 5pm Eastern Time. Thank you! Crockpot® Consumer Care
