Q: In the white version, do you have to continually hold down the lever to open can, or just press it down once? Or is this feature only available in the chrome version?

A: Thank you for your inquiry about the Cuisinart Deluxe Can Opener. This unit has single touch operation so once cutting begins there's no need to hold down the lever. Once cutting is complete the unit will shut off on its own.

Always had black n decker openers, the last one failed miserably after a very short time. Why did I never try Cuisinart before? Honestly the cost. Big mistake. I've had this Cuisinart Deluxe Can Opener now for about a month. QUIET out of the box, holds the can in place so I can do other tasks while cooking, EASY to clean, simple to use, oh and tall cans are a breeze! Spend the few extra bux!! you wont be sorry!

A little tricky getting the larger 28 oz and up cans in but opened the can well. Nice sharp blade and strong magnet. The best part is the ease of removing the opening lever to clean it. Clean Everytime...much improved over the Osterizer brand I previously operated.

The appearance is very tidy, it works well, and it Is very easy to clean. We had an electric can opener years ago but got rid of it because there was no way to clean the food grunge from the blade. Cleaning is a snap on this opener and the cost was less than the fancy manual tool we’ve been using for years.

I bought this well over a decade ago somewhere else. Absolutely loved it. It is tall for large cans, has a hollow space inside bottom so you can reduce amount of cord you want exposed. The cutter pulls out easy for cleaning. Have replaced over the years as I take out to clean cutter, then misplace it. I have bought black when white not available. Have never had a problem with mechanism. Surprised how many major sellers carry. But this time, lowest price and got 5% with Red Card and FREE Shipping. Came in just a few days. Put away the hand held opener.

This unit was purchased as a replacement for my hand-held opener...a "step up", so to speak. It works well with one minor complaint: the "cutting" mechanism falls out of its "hole" far too easily. My other unit by the same manufacturer (still in use at another location) just carries on. I do wish there is a way of securing that mechanism in the new unit.

Have had it for over a month. It is easy to operate with any and every can I have opened since then, the blade component is easy to remove and clean. The body does not have a lot of grooves and nooks and crannies which would make it hard to clean. The price was reasonable. I am very happy with my purchase at this point.
