Refined External DesignThe DP-300F's 4mm-thick cabinet wall that offers both strength and high density has been beautifully finished with a gloss coating. The straight tone arm and aluminum diecast turntable have been formed in a slim textually attractive design. With a body width of 434mm it combines very elegantly with full-size system components.
Fully Automatic PlayerWhen the 30cm or 17cm record size is selected with a simple operation the tone arm automatically moves and plays the record and then returns when playback ends. Different cartridges can be used as desired and since fine adjustments can also be made for anti-skating and zero balance ideal conditions for playing a record can be achieved.
Straight Tone ArmThe DP-300F's straight tone arm brings out the maximum performance of cartridges with superior tracing capabilities. The supplied cartridge can be replaced with a variety of commercially available cartridges. (Compatible cartridge weight: 5.0 - 10.0g)

Good Sound, Some Issues Out of the Box

Recently purchased (2024Mar20) and while setup was pretty easy itself, there were some issues I did not expect. Issue one, the speed was set incorrect for the 33 1/3. Had to puzzle out if this could be fixed (it can), and then gather up the tools to do so. Issue two, the tone arm does not seem to lift high enough to properly use the Automatic functions for Starting and Stopping. And there does not seem to be a solution for this issue. When starting automatically, it basically drops the needle into the side of the vinyl and sometimes pulls itself up onto the top. Does not sound good, cannot imagine it is good for the needle itself. When reaching the run out groove, it returns, but lifts just high enough to drag the needle all the way across the vinyl to the tone arm rest. Not good.

The midrange sound is very thin and muddy. I notice it on vocals. If Linda Ronstadt is getting lost in the mix, something isn't great. Would consider a replacement cartridge.

Hello, Thank you for your observation on the sound quality. As you detail only one example, it is possible your sonic dissatisfaction is courtesy of the quality of the LP pressing. If this is something you have noticed on many - or all of your records, it could be a change of phono pre-amp, or perhaps some adjustments to the counter weight could help, or even a cartridge upgrade could improve matters. Not having more details makes it difficult to be sure which path will fix the issue.

My turntable arrived without accessories--belt, counterweight, cartridge--and customer service said they would send the parts but now sent another email saying they'll let me know if they will. I have asked for a manager to contact me via reviews, your customer portal but so far nothing. And my previous review was removed....I am struggling to understand how to get through to Denon.

The "overall dimensions" say this is only 13.8 inches deep, but they are wrong. Even with the lid and hinges removed, it is a full 15.0 inches from the back of the hinge brackets to the front of the start/stop buttons. I measured my cabinet before purchasing and thought I was clear with a 14.5 inch capacity, but no, I had to cut holes in the back of my hi-fi cabinet to accommodate the hinge brackets before it would fit.

We apologize for any confusion our website dimensions may have presented. The 13.8 inches number isn't including the hinge and knobs. In our dimensions outline sheet, that calculation is included as 341mm which equates to 15" from the front knob to the rear hinge. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have presented.

I replaced an old Sony table with this model a year and a half ago and using the same Ortofon bronze this turntable sounds significantly better, very simple setup and the automatic mechanism is flawless can't beat this table for the price

I have one and find it to be a steady, great sounding turntable. I play mine through a Rotel A12 amp to a pair of Klipsch RP-600M speakers. I like most music genres but listen to classic rock mostly. I did install an older AT90E cartridge with a nude eliptical stylus. I had purchased a new Debut Carbon EVO but the Denon/AT90E combination sounded better to my ears.

I think It's A great turntable. I'm 65 disabled, music and collecting audio components is my hobby along with repairing them when they break. I have A feeling I won't be working on this anytime soon. I read some reviews and watched some unboxing on the tube and the ones that had less then a good to great review I don't agree with. The very best thing is falling asleep on a day dreaming day and not worrying about the turntable shutting off.

I got this turntable 3 years ago and use it a lot. It is plugged into a Denon F109 micro-chain. The sound is perfect, the design very sleek (grey version), easy to plug and install in a few minutes. I don't have any experience with external pre-amps but the one integrated in the turntable sounds very good to me. I recommend Denon.

I really like the fully automatic feature, and it sounds great. Too bad the stylus broke prematurely, not just on mine, but on my Son's also. I think Denon might have an issue with faulty stylus's on this model. And they don't cover them under warranty.

I can't comment on the preamp since I have never used it, but most turntables with built in preamps have ones that cannot measure up to an external preamp, or one built into a good quality receiver or integrated amp. This would be a great turntable if it had a tonearm latch, RCA output jacks (not a lousy built in wire), a grounding wire, and better shielding. Nix the bad cartridge it comes with, and perhaps the built in preamp, and put the cost of those into these needed improvements.

There's no way around the fact that there are many great turntables on the market right now. It's hard to pick a table because of how many tables offer attractive designs, great features, and build quality. U-Turn, Pro-ject, Technics, and many other brands all offer great products. However, when I found out about the Denon DP-300F, I was sold. Great reviews indicated almost unanimous satisfaction with the table, and the Denon name has been associated with quality products for years. Great specs and a clean look paired with automatic operation made this table an obvious winner in its price bracket. I placed an order and waited for my new table to come in the mail. As soon as my turntable came in the mail, I opened it up and set it up. Setup was easy and took all of 15 minutes, and from there I was off to the races. I threw my copy of Journey's Greatest Hits on the table, hit start, and was blown away. Great sound quality and super smooth operation from the automatic mechanism. A few records later and I'm beyond pleased with my new table. I've no doubt that this table will last me a long time, as evidenced by the fantastic sound it provides. I don't often write reviews, but I am so happy with the performance of this turntable that I had no other option but to leave a review. It you are on the edge, all I can do is recommend this table. You will absolutely not regret your decision to do so.
