This is horrible to try and get all the pieces broken out. Broke a couple of pieces before we could even build the robot.

The solar panel does not keep a charge. It has to be in a strong, constant sunshine, or 100 watt light (very close, almost touching) to work. Otherwise, you're just building different things. Good to keep kids busy but not worth it.

These are seemingly great toys. My 12 year old son and his Dad have a good time building these Discovery Sets on Christmas afternoon or after a Birthday, etc. Mind you, my husband is an Engineer for a NASA contractor and knows a bit about building small scale crafts such as these. However, at least half of the time, a major component of the design is incorrect and causes the product to fail to work properly. In this case, it is the steering mechanism that just appears to be a misprint. What fun is this if its front axle won’t move at all? 8 months later and there it sits, near the window in the living room, getting lots of sunlight, hoping that Dad might find time to take it in late one night, redesign the parts, and reprint them successfully on a 3-D printer. Could time please stand still for one night in which that could be top priority? Ha! It’s probably as likely as Target ever getting this exact model in stock at a store where we could exchange our broken one at this late date. SIGH

I (23) got this for my 13 year old brother because we both love building. After spending hours taking the tiny pieces apart, sanding, and sorting them we tried to build one of the models. The tiny pieces don’t fit well together we even broke a few pieces. Your finger tips will be raw after trying to put one model together, not even going try to take it apart. Once in the sun it barely moves and does not support its own weight. I can’t understand how this is marketed to an 8 year old. Not worth the hassle or time. Dime for size comparison

Four stars only because it wasn’t the same product that is shown in the photos. The robot looks quite a bit different. However, we still LOVE it. I worked with my 4 and 6 year old to build this. They were engaged and focused and it was a fun challenge! We will be looking for more products like this! Please update the photo though - we were initially disappointed because we liked the way the other robot looked better

Fed up with this tiny pieces that made my finger hurt when popping it out. Despite that the pieces will not assemble properly like other reviews said. Also the wheels don’t really fit in with body and just come apart.

Do you want to know what it's like to work in an overseas toy factory, complete with cutting parts from a frame, hand-filing them, labeling plastic bags and sorting parts correclty into said bags? This set is for you. Once we got through that work it was fun to build the robots, albeit difficult - we literally used a magnifying glass at one point because some of the images in the instruction booklet were so tiny, and 8+ is really optimistic for the fine motor skills required. Our solar circuit did work correctly and power the vehicles, which was cool. but I will not buy another set like this.

My kiddo purchased this with his birthday money a couple weeks ago. We have been patiently waiting for some sunny weather so that the solar would charge. It's been a full week of sitting in direct sunshine-nothing. Tried rebuilding it. Nothing. Looked up the company via the website on the box and it goes to "Website expired". Do not waste your money. Fun to build, doesn't actually work.

Pieces don’t fit together well! Instructions are confusing. Do not recommend.

My 9yr old daughter couldn't get the pieces apart, let alone build it. I didn't mind, because I have way more patience with these things. So, w a pair of sturdy scissors and needle nose pliers, I finally got all the parts separated after about an hr. Took about 20 mins to build the easiest starter robot, and when we put in the solar panel, it didn't work. Just like other reviewers stated, the solar panel was complete garbage. Even after being in the sun for 8 hrs. Disappointing and a complete waste of time.

First and foremost the solar panel is not functional, but when hooked to a 9v battery the motor works. Secondly the pieces are an absolute nightmare to detach from the frame they come in. In mine and my 8yo opinion this robot is absolutely not worth the money or time put into building.

Fun to build but Solar function does not seem to work at all. Will be returning. Disappointing Christmas gift.

My daughter (9) gave up within minutes on building it. It took my husband hours and tools. It’s not the stem project we were hoping for at all.

This is a really awesome kit for a kid who is interested in mechanics and how things work, but the solar panel I received in my kit simply did not generate any power. The motor worked fine when hooked up to a battery, but when I connected the leads to the panel, it just didn’t do anything.

Once they robot was built, it never held a charge. Our 8-year-old who received this as a Christmas gift was understandable, upset.

The pieces are TINY! Some are smaller than the top of a thumb tack. The instructions are only faded pictures that are nearly impossible to understand. Once I got it assembled, it didn't even work; at all. Very disappointing

Could not get power. Had to hold right next to light bulb and then it would only try to move. Very disappointing. Can not find site to ask for just new solar board so I will return to store.
