Didn’t work

It literally was a dud for me. I followed all the onboarding and troubleshooting steps and it never registered on my Ecobee. For reference, I’m the CTO of my company so it’s not for lack of understanding how to set these things up. It just simply was a dud. Still waiting for a refund but we’ll see.
Waste of Money and experience

I bought these smart sensors thinking they would help determine hot and cold spots throughout my house and they never work. They say a room is occupied when no one is even in there. It just tells you what the room temp is. I had this mounted on my wall in the living room with my alarm system set. At 1:30 am it detected motion when nothing was in my room at 1:30 am and 10 min later the cops are banging on my door because of these sensor that went off saying my living room was occupied at 1:30 while I was sleeping. So then I had to explain to the officer what the sensors even were and that everything was fine. Waste of money don’t buy it. I can buy a cheaper device telling me what my room temp is…

Amazing difference to our home climate

These satellite sensors have completely changed the climate dynamics of our home. Let me explain. We live in a 100+ yo brownstone with small rooms and several floors. Up until we bought our Ecobee thermostat & sensors 5 months ago, we had no real way to calibrating room temps. Sometimes I would fiddle with the register grates, but then rooms that had been cold were now hot and vice versa. Impossible to find middle ground. Once we installed the Ecobee T stat & sensors, it has all been calibrated for us. If I wanted a previous cold room to warm, I’d put a sensor in there. If the room with the thermostat was too hot, I can now adjust the temperature range. Really glad these guys helped me find a solution and it also seems to be saving me some money in the meantime.
Awful Product

Definitely would not recommend these room sensors. They do not work and are a waste of money. It adjusts the temperature 5-10* colder in my 3 year olds room so during the night it drops into the 50’s. You would think the room sensor would not let that happen.
Temperature Averaging - No Humidity Sensors

Works perfectly fine for temperature monitoring, but for the price should also measure humidity. there are parts of the world where humidity control is a concern, and being able to monitor it in different parts of the house would be extremely useful, as the thermostat is able to turn on the ac to lower the humidity.
So glad and saving money since I had this put in!

I am a renter and have seen my electric bill jump so much in the last 2 yrs. I saw on my bill that they had a program that they would come out and access ways you can save money free of charge. My landlord was 100% behind this! Well they came and installed an ecobee thermostat! The one we had here was very old ! Now I can program what temp I want during the day for ac/heat as well as my night temps! I saw a change in my savings the first month ! I continue to see savings 6 months later. The reason is because you are not having to keep changing your temps. This is so easy ! Check with your electric company they have contacts with ecobee then you can get the extra room sensors ! Been worth it ! Save the money you save for something fun for yourself!
They don't work

I have one for each room and though it is nice to get an idea of which room tends to run hot to be honest unless your house is on an automatic zone setting then your AC will run and run and run and one part of your house will be freezing while the other part is ok.. I ended up removing all of them and now the main thermostat controls everything and so far so good.

ecobee SmartSensor works by measuring the temperature and occupancy in the rooms that matter most to you. You can customize the sensor participation in each of your Comfort Settings. For troubleshooting assistance, please reach to Customer Support at ecobee.com/get-help.

This is the main flaw

I’ve always been using the solution. I believe the main flaw is on the temp sensors not being smart enough. I say this based on all tests and tweaks I’ve made with it over the course of using it. Temperature detection is spot ON but occupancy detection does not. The main flaw is the refresh rate for occupancy detection. It can’t be changed and takes more than 20 minutes to refresh which does not help when doing follow mode. If they can add the option to adjust the refresh rate for occupancy feature then I can recommend it and support it.

Never Available

The thermostat always reads warmer than what it really is in the house, even with the extra sensor which has now died and is useless so it's either really cold in the house during winter and I have to turn the threshold up or it's really warm during summer and the a/c will constantly running. The extra sensors are never in stock and you can't get them anywhere else. Kinda useless to have an accessory for a main product that is never available.

Best Smart Thermostat

I've been using my Ecobee for about 3 years. I first had the Nest which works fine but like most thermostats, it reads temperature usually in a hallway which isn't representative of the rest of the house, though I do like the routine learning functionality of the Nest. The Ecobee does all the regular stuff like know when your not home to use the a/c less, and know when your on your way home to get to your desired temp, etc... But when you use the Ecobee "follow me" feature with the room sensors, it's a game-changer. With this feature, it prioritizes the temperatures of the rooms that you're actually using over rooms that are empty or you temporarily pass through. You can even choose which sensors in which rooms you want the Ecobee to use for different times of the day by adjusting your temperature comfort settings. I had the nest for 2 years and after switching to my Ecobee, I actually saw a decrease in a/c usage ( but not comfort) once I had enough sensors and had my comfort settings optimized.

I’ve have this system for 5 years now. The thermostat works as intended but the sensors are a waste of money. When my kids are sleeping the sensors don't pick the room up as occupied. Thus only averaging the temp of the main thermostat with the 3 sensors. Problem is that the temp downstairs is far lower and doesn’t hit the average threshold to signal the AC to kick on. Seriously don't waste your money.

Thanks for your feedback about ecobee SmartSensor. Good news, you can customize your sensor participation in each Comfort Setting. For your Sleep Comfort Setting, you can exclude the SmartSensor downstairs to ensure you get a comfortable sleep. The Follow Me feature does not work in the Sleep Comfort Setting. I've had this product for years, and have been running three sensors for most of that time. My Ecobee came with one sensor and I added this 2-pack to get me to three. It is very useful to have sensors and be able to have the Ecobee use a sensor in combination or as the primary temperature source for my heating and cooling settings.
Great Addition to the house

These smart sensors are a great addition to the house to get a better understanding of how you floor vents heat and cool a room. At a glance though the app you can compare each room after a heating cycle to see which ones are hotter than the others and maybe adjust some dampeners to keep temperatures consistent throughout the house. Not only that but the addition of these to make the thermostat even smarter by using specific sensors based on comfort settings is super great. Giving them a 3 star on performance as i feel i change the batteries a little too often
Must have add-on!

I have somewhat large temperature discrepancies between some rooms. During the winter while some of them are very cold, some others areas are very hot; the opposite happens during warmer days. The sensors allow my thermostat to average the temperature in these areas so all of them have about an average temperature and helps saving on electricity charges. My only drawback is they can be a pain when they disconnect due to interference and they are very expensive.
