[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Educational Insights GeoSafari Ant Factory provided an excellent summer science experiment for my children. I don't believe this should be left within reach of younger children as my kindergartner nearly knocked this over several times in his excitement while supervised. Overall my children were extremely happy with the ant factory and had fun watching the colony grow.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This was an awesome experience for my 5 and 7 year old boys! Even their dad and I were sucked into watching the ants hard at work! You can easily see all their tunnels. The only downsides to this were 2 things. First, it took about a month for ants to arrive from antsalive and that was frustrating, although they eventually made it right. And second, instructions say to leave 2 inches of open space at the top, I wish I would've left 3 or 4 inches. When they start building more, the sand keeps getting lifted all the way up and I keep having to gently tap it down so I can take the little cover off to feed them. I also love that it's clear on both sides, because you can see a lot more without a picture on one side!

This kit is very durable and easy to use, watching your ants is very neat. Actually getting the ants from the suggested site took a while and they were all dead on arrival the first go around so had to reorder. The kit itself is very nice, would definitely recommend.

The ants were active, but they didn't actually make as many tunnels as I thought they would. Overall, it was fun to watch, but really we just watched them eat. We did share with my child's teacher and we should have bought more ants. Which we are willing to try in the coming weeks. We did enjoy this product, but it definitely was not what we were expecting. I think we were expecting to watch the ants work more or dig more. Rather than watch them eat.

The only complaint I had was the company that you can purchase the live ants from. I ordered them and they took FOREVER to get to me and when they finally did they were dead. I just caught some of my own ants and put them in the factory.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Our base for the ant factory was very wobbly. I was always so nervous it would fall and ants would get everywhere. So far it hasn't and we've had it a few weeks. It is very cool to watch how ants act and my 6 year old is very entrigued and shows me new things everyday.

It's engaging for most age ranges. The children love it. They will count the ants they see, they will try to predict what direction their tunnel may go next, and so much more! I definitely recommend this over other ant farms I've seen or used. Would be great in a science class!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Educational Insights Ant Farm was fun and educational. We had to wait a few days for the ants to be delivered, but they were free to order. There is a coupon included with the ant farm. It was very easy to assemble, abd there wasnt much of a mess. I did keep it on my porch, because I was a little uncomfortable having ants in the house. My daughter is 12 years old and had a lot of fun watching the ants build a home. She felt bad for keeping them locked up, so we did release them. This is a great tool for school or anyone who is interested in learning about ants. I received this item as a free sample.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a great way to show the life cycle of ants. It took about three weeks after we ordered our ants for them to arrive. We quickly filled the ant farm with the sand provided and used the hole maker to make their tunnels. We added our ants. I wanted to give it a few days before reviewing so that I could give an honest answer. It's a little scary knowing how dangerous harvest ants bites are. I was concerned most with them being in the house. The ant farm seemed secure at first. However my son tipped it over and the top fell off. A few of the ants escaped. On the package that comes with the ants, says if they escape or get out you need to destroy them immediately. Which is kind of sad. That's what we had to do to the ones that got out. We were quickly able to close it so no more of the ants escaped. The ants mostly stick to the top in our case. They don't really travel down into the sand. Half of the ants we received were dead. Which they warn you of when you make your purchase. Overall my son loves to watch the ants and it's a great way to educate your child. It's fun to watch them. However I would've liked to have the Ant food come with this. Instead of having to buy everything separate because it does get a little expensive. We love the experience of the ant farm.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The concept of this is great, but when you get it it is just the ant enclosures and dirt. You have to buy the ants separately. You get a discount, but the ants are still pricy.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I loved it. It is really fascinating to see how fast the ants started to work and make their way down which ended up creating their small tunnels. My family totally enjoyed watching them. I like the fact that this ant farm came with the sand. The box is quite durable and easy to put together. It is just a good educational tool to maintain the whole family entertained. This would make a great gift for anyone.

The ants quickly got to work once we put them in their new habitat. By the next morning, there were multiple tunnels. This is a great educational gift for kids. I definitely recommend it.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My kids and I really liked setting this up and having it in our home. It's fun to teach them about ants and how they tunnel. They like being involved in the process. I wish there were a funnel of some sort to easily pour the sand but I was lucky enough to have two on hand. It's a bit long to send off for ants but we also had those available. Overall, it's an interactive and educational experience for us all as a family so I would recommend it to others.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this product as part of a review program. While the GeoSafari Ant Factory seems to be a great "toy", it's more a learning tool. This would be perfect for a classroom but not for an everyday parent. While the price is reasonable, after you buy the set up, you have to go to a specific website (they have information inside the box for it) to buy ants from them which then take a few weeks to arrive. It's not an open up and learn right now but one that requires time and patience. I opted to not go that route since my children were not interested in waiting weeks to use it and learn from it. I wouldn't recommend this to other parents, but would recommend or gift this product to possibly a science teacher.
