Q: Is the inside of the mug ceramic or stainless steel?

submitted by KA - 4 months ago
  • A: The whole mug is made out of the same material

submitted byC - 4 months ago
  • A: Ember Mug is made of durable stainless-steel with FDA food grade ceramic-reinforced coating.

submitted byVictim of theft - 3 months ago

Q: Can it heat up a cold/ room temp drink?

submitted by Rabmakz - 4 months ago
  • A: No, nor can it heat the beverage while charging

submitted byKaceyL - 4 months ago

Q: What is the highest temperature it will reach? I like my coffee super hot.

submitted by ChristyC - 5 months ago
  • A: 145 degrees is the hottest

submitted byC - 4 months ago

Q: Does this item come with the charging base?

submitted by JHG - 5 months ago
  • A: Yes. It comes with the charging coaster.

submitted byBrand Expert - 5 months ago

Q: Is there a lid for the 14 oz mug? If not then why since it is required to get a better battery life?

submitted by fussy - 1 year ago
  • A: There are lids that can be purchased seperately for either the 14oz or 10oz mugs. By adding this accessory it will double the life of the battery.

submitted byBrand Expert - 1 year ago

Q: Does the charger come with an outlet plug for re-charging the battery? Or is it easy to replace the internal battery? Basically, how is the charger/battery kept charged?

submitted by Toni - 1 year ago

Love and hate

Thumbs down graphic, would not recommend
Amauzon - 8 days ago, Verified purchaser
Love it when it’s working properly because I have a hot beverage all day! Hate it when it doesn’t work! 75% of the time, it is off and/or turns off when I have a full cup of coffee. Why? So I turn it off, turn it on, then it turns off again. I then pull out my phone and use the app to turn it on. After a few seconds, it turns off again! Ughhh…. After several times watching it turn off and on, my coffee has gone cold and I am angry with this thing that I hate it and wish I could return it. But then I drink my hot coffee when it finally works and I’m back to loving the mug again. So frustrating and such an expensive mistake. I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone. I would buy the Amazon dupe which costs way less and has higher reviews.

EMBER DEFECT

Good afternoon. This coffee cup is very innovative and very well thought out. It has the terrible result of failing to load and also fails to connect. My wife has an iPhone, and I have a Samsung. It was useless. It's incredibly frustrating to get overpriced for a simple cup, and worse still, I haven't used it for more than 20 coffees and less than a year after receiving it.

Just a mug

Our ember mug just never won our hearts. It’s such a great concept but poorly executed. The round bottom makes it tip over easily with the slightest bump. It quit charging after 6 months. Now it’s just a mug. A very expensive mug.

Stopped Working After Less Than 50 Uses

Stopped working after 7 months and less than 50 uses. Was hand washed and fully dried only. Power to the pins confirmed good at 19 volts so either the mug died or one/both pins aren't making contact (I suspect the former).

I like my coffee hot. I had a coffee mug but the coffee would get warm before I could finish it. This was a gift from my daughter and son in law. I love my coffee hot and it keeps my coffee at the exact temperature for the time I need it... I rate this right up there with my favorite tools.

This is a terrible product. It always goes cold even if I'm charging. I have to constantly go into the app to raise it to the highest level and adjust to my preferences. It's just a high maintenance product that's not even as good as thermos. I've stopped using it until they do a better product update that doesn't require you to go into a janky app every multiple times a day, it should be customizable to your preset preferences.

Beware the inner top layer slowly melts away.

The mug worked great for a few months. Actually still works. I had to put it away when I noticed the color on the inside of the cup was coming off. Never put in a dishwasher. Always hand washed. I can see the layer underneath the color now. Who knows what happened to the color. Did I drink it slowly in my coffee?? Did it come off slowly in a sudsy hand wash? Who knows? Doesn't seem safe to be drinking out of anymore. I notified customer support a few weeks ago to ask if this was normal and never heard back from them.

This mug has chips and flakes on the bottom of the inside. Very disappointed, especially for what it cost. Barely had it for one year. Would not recommend.

Stopped working after one month. Says it’s empty when it’s not. Likely because of a firmware update bug. Ember has refused to reply to requests for support or refund. Many cases of this being reported. I’m going to report Ember to the Better Business Bureau, as are many other people.

I love this cup, in fact I have two, one is 7-8 yrs old. I've had to replace the charging plate FIVE times, due to the prongs sticking in the down position. I just read a review from "Steve" who said put a drop of vinegar on them, wait awhile, and they pop back up again. And it WORKS!! HAPPY!!!! He also said use MTK oil after but I dont know what that is. The other thing is alot of people are upset that the app connection doesnt work. I found that too, so I stopped using it and my cup works just fine. Just a thought. :)

I have had my Ember mug for about two years and have needed to replace the charging pad and now the replacement charger has also failed. POOR quality charging pads. Save your money unless you just want to have a nice looking mug that doesn’t hold a charge. I’ll never spent any more money on these products.

Disappointed

We've had the mug about two years, and the two contact heating pins in the charging base have lost their 'springy-ness" and no longer make good contact with the bottom of the mug. The unit, therefore, is essentially worthless. Too bad, because when it was working, it was great.

Major deficiency in charging battery

3 out of 5 stars
MT guy - 2 months ago
originally posted on ember.com
I've had an Ember mug for over 3 years. It continues to do its job. I would give a higher rating but for one huge flaw: When a mug is placed on its charging plate, it can either charge or reach / hold the set temperature, not both. It would seem a rather easy fix to have it switch from heating to charging once the temperature is changed, going back and forth as necessary. Or, of course even better, by allowing it to do both at once, likely a harder fix. A fluctuation of a few degrees while charging is not important; having the coffee hot enough but only for a little while because the battery needs charging is not good.
