I had high hopes for this printer but it has been nothing but trouble. I spend more time trying to sort out connection and technical problems than actually printing anything. I don't understand how society hasn't figured out basic working printers that don't make you want to pull your hair out. Epson's app, website, and support pages are also clunky and hard to work with. Stay away.

It's a good little printer! The photo printing quality is very good. The color copying quality is poor and I'm disappointed in that aspect.

Connectivity issues supersede the quality of the prints

The printer does a great job of printing photos, which is the primary use for me. But, connectivity is a problem with this device. If you use a mesh wifi network that broadcasts a single SSID name (which is the way modern, good quality networks should work), the printer will struggle with connectivity. It apparently gets confused selecting connections because the router and mesh satellites all have the same name (SSID). So, if you go wireless, expect periodic glitches where the printer won't receive print jobs or where the printer tells you it's not connected to the network. This problem could be partially addressed if it had an ethernet port, which would allow you to use it as a network printer for your other wireless devices, but it doesn't have an ethernet port. So, the only way to avoid these glitches with this printer is to connect it to a single computer using a USB port. If you do that, however, you can only print from that computer.

Dear haventgotone, some Epson printers, and the ink cartridges, are specific to the United States and Canada, and are not sold worldwide. Your XP-8700 will work internationally, but you may not be able to easily purchase ink cartridges for it in foreign markets. Thank you,Dylan – The Epson

This is replacing an old Epson CX 8400, so needless to say there is a bit of learning curve but it's almost intuitive and I've been pleased with it so much.

A major upgrade from my older Epson printer. Enjoy the convenience of being able to print wirelessly from my phone. I also like the fact that it has to internal paper trays.

I started using computers when Windows 95 was introduced. That is 28 years of experience. In that time I have never had a more horrible experience with the installation of a printer. I have been working for several hours and I still can not print even a simple document. I have installed, uninstalled, reinstalled. The thing will not work at all. Epson absolutely must improve the set up procedure. I will uninstall all the downloaded files and try again, but this is ridiculous.

I had the 8600 printer and was satisfied with it. This one is almost the same and so far have been impressed with its colors. I use it mostly for photo and cards and the colors are very natural and pics are very professional looking.

I really wanted a printer with more than 6 colors of ink, so I bought this one. It is the exact same model as the one I used in Japan, and I am very satisfied with its usage and the printed paper! One more thing, I wish the ink was cheaper.

I did good with the set up until I needed to print pictures off my IPad. I called epson help, the lady helped me and we set up the epson app. That printed 6 nice pictures, then the pictures got blurry. Bad! I finally decided there was a problem between the app getting the pictures and printing them out. I figured out how to print directly from the I pad photos to the printer. Beautiful pictures. Needless to say epson app went by the way side. So far after a good setup, I am very pleased.

I wanted a printer with excellent photo quality and to be able to just do normal stuff. Third time is a charm (this is my 3rd within 2 years. First one I couldn't get fixed. No one would touch it and I was so happy with it until it started smearing black streaks. I worked with it for 8 months and cleaned it several times (XP-7100)). Any way I must say I finally have one with the excellent photo quality. I hope the ink isn't expensive. That would be the only downer. Do you ever have coupons? Please send to my email address.

I bought this to replace 2 printers that have lived past their prime...An NX420 that scanned, but would not print, and an XP-610 that would print but not scan. (I used Epson's recycle program to recycle these old printers!). This new printer has exceeded expectations. I am scanning in a box of old photos - a mix of black and white and color photos. The SmartScan works wonderfully! and its fast! I am also printing out some digital scrapbooks and they are printing outstanding. and fast! This was definitely worth the purchase. I also bought extra ink with the printer, because the ink is not yet available locally.

This is a review for the Epson Expression Photo XP-8700 Wireless All-in-one Printer that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review. The unboxing was as simple as it gets. No fighting with the packaging to get out of the box which was nice! Overall i would say its a nice printer with very good print results. The set up was a little complicated. First downloaded the Epson smart panel app to begin set up. Installing ink was a breeze. But then waiting 10 minutes for it to initialize seemed a little drastic. Then the printing tests amd selecting answers was fine until 2nd test on which the paper jammed and the directions on the screen did very little to help me unjam the paper. (The back is removable and thats how you access a jam.) Once that was removed, 2nd test was simple. And then it was up and running! Fairly easy. But the print quality is much better than any other printer I've owned in the past! Overall, it's a win.
