This thing worked great the first half dozen times I used it. Now, it has a black line on everything I scan. Mind you, I am 50 years old, and not running anything but flat paper through it.

Doesn't Work With Windows 11?

I purchased this scanner several years ago and used it with my Lenovo computer that has Windows 10. I recently bought an HP all in one desktop computer that has Windows 11 and the Epson scanner doesn't work. The light comes on but that's it.

Difficult to clean

Worked well until it didn't, I ended up with a black line on my scans. Attempted to buy the wet cleaning kit but none are available. I had attempted the cleaning sheet that came with the device but that didn't help after several tries.

I scanned between 20,000 and 25,000 documents with that one. I purchased the 2nd one because I was concerned I might have problems with it while on the road. I do investigations for the government and use this new one only g\for On-The-Road use. My at the home scanner is an ES-400 . I've had it for several years and have never had a problem with it.

I have tried to use this scanner so many times. I even changed computers thinking that would help. I downloaded files, etc. It just does not work. I am disappointed with Epson because I thought it would be more reputable than some of the other scanners. I learned my lesson. Wasted my money! Don't waste yours.

Used it once, then didn't need it for a while. Won't feed pages. Won't connect via USB. Scanner isn't found. I have tried every USB cable at my desk and nothing works. I don't have a lot of money and am really sad I threw it away on a product that won't work.

We bought this scanner around 3 months ago and have used it a handful of times. The scans come through with decent clarity, which is nice. Once all the software and drivers are installed it's easy to use, however, the problem I have is that every time I want to use it, I have to uninstall and then reinstall all the software and drivers, which means that when I want to scan a document, instead of it taking 20-30 seconds, it takes 20-30 minutes. Pretty frustrating. I have a new HP laptop I got a couple months after we bought the scanner, so we're not trying to use new tech with old tech. If it wasn't for that huge inconvenience this would have 4 or 5 stars.

Hangs/crashes on a regular basis

When it works it's a handy product. But it can only handle at most 20 scans before the software crashes. And the **ONLY** way to get it to start working again is to unplug iot and re-attach it. Even though the software probes for the device and sees it, it STILL won't run until you've unplugged it and plugged it back in. It is incapable of restarting itself otherwise. The software can't remember settings like preferred file format from one usage (or after it crashes) to another. The "scan" button on the device does nothing even though the application is running. If your receipt is too long it will DEFINITELY crash.

I wanted to write a review to give a different perspective on the epson portable scanner. I see there are a few negative reviews, however my perspective is that the unit works very well. My worktruck is my office and I use this scanner often and have never had an issue. I find it durable and has sat in my work bag in minus 30 degree weather overnight to work the next day no problem. I would recommend this scanner to anyone who needs something portable to scan their documents with.

Computer no longer recognizes the ES 50. Worked on a few occasions then stopped. Others online have had the same problem. Another technological masterpiece heading for the the garbage can.
