Coming from an old canvas-sided tent, my family definitely wanted something that would be large enough and offer great ventilation. The setup is a bit difficult from reading the instructions, at least for the first time (no breakdown of included pieces or labelled parts). However, watching the setup video gave us what we needed: setup went from headhead-scratching to up in about 20 minutes. the tent is spacious and quite comfortable. the fly makes for excellent ventilation. What started as a confusing experience was quickly converted to an incredible appreciation for this tent. Plenty if standing room and, while we leave our devices at home, the pockets in the tent give you many stowing options. The power ports make running extension cords inside the tent a simple task. the flaps over the zippers are something that become a necessity once you have them - keeping out the surprises of the wild.

Easy to set up but had to look up directions online as it doesn’t come with any. Out tent came with stretched almost rips in the netting , see pictures below. Very spacious but doesn’t seem to fit the price.

Review from a short person

Great tent that we enjoyed with my family of 5. Plenty of room for all of our stuff. To make this tent even better, I would add more mesh storage pockets along the corners or walls, use zippers instead of toggles to close the windows, and lower the overall height of the ceiling. I am a short person and I can’t reach the mesh storage slings at the ceiling. But those are only small tweaks, it is a high quality tent with plenty of space.

Used on a beach family car camping trip in April. Easy set up and pack up with 2 adults or a teen. Lots of space inside and the 2 doors was a plus. Will be using this summer for backyard camping too!

We would prefer a little more coverage from the rainfly. We are able to sleep 6 adults (guys 6' 7" 6' 3" and 6 ft) and 3 dogs when we have the whole family. When it's just the 2 of us we use half for sleeping and a place to hang out when the weather is bad or we need shade while the other half is our kitchen and bathroom. I love my Eureka tents. I have a 35 yo Denali that is like new. If you take care of them they will last.

So Far So Good, But Drafty

I've been using mine nightly since the end of May this year (2023). Considering the design of the windows - which do not include zippers and/or velcro to fully close, and would otherwise keep the interior air warmer - I'm surprised they haven't let much, if any, rain in.

Thank you for your review of the Copper Canyon. The Toggle & Ring system for closing window flaps is used to eliminate wear-n-tear of so many zippers (commonly first thing to fail on tents of this size). Overlap of the inner flaps and the outer sidewalls still provides protection against rain and there are small drain holes on the outer portion of these overlapping fabrics. We invite you to call Customer Service at 1-800-572-8822 if you encounter other questions or issues with the design.

After 17 years I had to finally retire my Columbia Bay Cougar Tent. I had read reviews on this gave it a shot. Finally used it this weekend. Underwhelmed to say the least. Windows are not zippered so to keep the water from coming in the design team flared the window cover and added a drain. Yes water drains but this adds bugs to your tent. It also didn’t seem as sturdy as my former tent as there were no cross rails on the bay windows. The screens brand new had many “runs” and the floor is in no way puncture resistant. After one 3 day trip and one day of rain my center supports (white poles) already began to rust. This could pass as a backyard tent but not for that price. Look elsewhere

I have owned the older version since 2016 with original fly design. It is superb in every way. It’s only my wife and but as we get older the room to move around is welcome. We use a queen size air bed . We have camped in torrential rains, wind ,near freezing temps and in 95 plus heat. We love the large and plentiful windows. I am 6’ 3” and can stand up in it . The tent has never leaked including in one rainstorm that was so heavy one guy was seen kayaking in the campground. . Six years later the tent still looks new and is dependable as ever. It pays to buy a good tent . I have been happy with every Eureka tent I have ever owned and thoroughly unhappy with any other brand. Johnson Outdoors is a great company as well. I had to get a replacement pole for this tent and they were a pleasure to deal with and shipped the replacement promptly . I also bought and Old Town Kayak this year and I had some use and car questions and they responded promptly and answered my question in some detail. .

Love having more room in this tent! It’s an upgrade from a 4 person. Room for cots, able to stand up. All great. Haven’t camped in the rain with it yet but had it set up in the yard did a week and it did rain then. Didn’t see wet spots. Only thing I didn’t love is that the zipper doesn’t work really smoothly. Wish that were easier to operate. It tends to get stuck.

Our Eureka Copper Canyon has withstood heavy thunderstorms, late fall snows, scouter camp outs, and outdoor parties thrown by our young adult children. Put it up this weekend and it survives to camp again! It’s coming up on 15 years old and it looks like this may survive until we host backyard camp outs with the grandkids!

Not good in the rain

A pricey tent but was very willing to pay the price because of the size and features. The first time out got some rain nothing crazy but the tent leaked on multiple places. I had water coming in from the door zipper even with everything velcroed down. Also had water coming in from the corners. I will be camping again this weekend to give it another chance.

Exceptional Rain Protection

I bought this about a month ago and went camping during the Colorado "monsoon" season. I was skeptical of the window cover designs and very worried when the afternoon thunderstorm showed up. I rained off and on throughout the afternoon, but after sunset the really hard rain started for a good 3 hours. It was probably the hardest rainstorm I 've camped in and the inside of the tent was completely dry inside. The rain was falling hard enough that we could not hear each other talking inside the tent without yelling.

Firstly - it is a bit heavier than my last tent. However it is sturdier and way more solid. A breeze to put up. Everything is well thought out.

New and Improved

Extremely happy with the improvements. I finally retired my older Copper Canyon tent. The previous Copper Canyon model sheltered my family 30 or more camping trips spanning over 10 years in all sorts of weather conditions. The tent may have lasted a few more trips, but I felt it was time to buy a new tent and I was pleased to see the new Cooper Canyon series. It’s almost identical to the previous model. The rain fly has a new design that keeps the rain from contacting the front door. It’s new design also directs rainfall away from the sides of the tent. It’s durable, roomy, and has plenty of head space that allows you to stand up straight anywhere in the tent. It has some new storage features as well. We can comfortably fit two queen size mattresses next to each other as well as two large suitcases and our propane heater. I highly recommend the the Copper Canyon brand. Finally I have to comment on the customer service. After I purchased the new tent I saw that there were major delays in shipping due to the pandemic. I was worried my tent would not arrive in time. I called customer service and they were great. They contacted the warehouse, and made sure it would be shipped that day. They even went out of their to expedite the delivery time for free. Eureka customer for life.

Roomy well designed stargazer with good rain fly

We really enjoyed living out of this tent for a week of camping. Very roomy for two of us. We had a full height queen sized bed and a table with chairs inside for playing cards in the 8 person tent. Had one night with perfect weather and slept with the roof open and had beautiful star views! When the weather was iffy we put the rain fly up and harbored a couple hours of rainstorms with zero leaks. Tent has cool little features here and there and is well thought out. Material seems to be high quality. I researched every single tent on the market before deciding on this one. I’m very happy with the choice. I do recommend buying a tarp of equal size to put down under the tent to protect the bottom from sticks or rocks. I would recommend that for any tent of this size.

Nice large functional Eureka tent with usefull mesh windows and a great rain fly. Set up was relatively fast and the tent could be carried some distance, though too heavy for backpacking. Passersby stop and make positive comments when it is erected and the family really appreciates the purchase.
