The Ewbank SC1000 Steam Dynamo is a compact powerful cleaning device that uses steam to eliminate grease, dirt, and stains. A: Thank you for your question. Anytime when you are dealing with electricity you need to be careful. Never submerge an appliance into water that has a cord. And be careful of the cord itself, making sure there are no holes or cuts in the cord before plugging it is. Also never touch the metal prongs while plugging in the unit. The steam cleaner has a canister that is molded on the inside so the cord itself is sectioned off and protected from the water used in the unit. Also be sure to follow the directions and safety instructions provided in the manual before using the unit, and if there are any other questions you may have please call the manufacturer for additional information.

Q: Can the steam cleaner be used for non shag carpeted stairs? Also we won primarily use this for steam cleaning carpeted rooms. Is it powerful enough to handle this? Thanks

A: Thank you for your question! The steam cleaner specs allow for 50 mL of water in the tank, so the distance it can go is determined by that vs the size of the room or stairs. But yes! It is great for all upholstery and carpeting including any hard floors or surfaces.

Q: Can a cleaning solution be added to the water?

A: Thank you for your question. No, cleaning solutions can not be added to the water in the tank. This is render the product and warranty useless. The best practice for the steam cleaner is to use distilled water to limit build up, and to run a vinegar solution through it occasionally to keep it clean and increase its longevity.

Q: How long is the electrical cord for the unit? Can I be pluged in to a power strip with or without a surge protector?

A: Thank you for your question. The Cord is 8 feet long. In the manual it states: It is recommended that a suitably rated GFCI/ALCI device is fitted into the mains supply socket for added protection. I steam cleaned my oven for the first time an it worked amazing and this is my first steam cleaner that I ever bought the only thing that gave me some trouble was the cap that was used to put water into the steam cleaner was hard to get off so I had to get plyers to take it off and then it worked very nicely so no complaints other than that and it worked very well and it came with all the attachments just like it was displayed on the website

I couldn't be happier. I'm a 77 year old female with severe arthritis and spinal stenosis. My old steam cleaner had become to heavy and I couldn't turn the push and turn fill knob. I went looking for something I thought I could handle and this unit couldn't be more perfect. The knob is a simple turn and having the water in a separate container takes care of the weight problem. The water tank has wheels so it is easy to move without lifting. With this tool I am able to clean baseboards and other low items even with back issues. It is currently slow going, but I'm cleaning things I haven't been able to clean for at least two years and it should go much faster in the future. The only cons, the cord could be longer to avoid an extension cord and the toggle to turn the steam on and off is a bit difficult and is plastic. I am concerned that the plastic toggle will have a much shorter life than the unit and I will have to replace an expensive tool over a 5 cent part. It does just what it is supposed to do and does it well.

Am I the only one that has experienced 1 min of steam power before yellow light goes on for steam to build again? Wait 40 sec to begin again only to have yellow light appear again. I can not do my kitchen floor like this. I had this machine 1 hour before I took it back to store. That was time to read directions assemble floor attachments but I used my own cloth for I did read instructions that yellow light cloud light the to stop to have it build steam and then go off. I really liked the feel of brush attachment with cloth but like I mentioned I need more steam time to complete to chores. Giving it 3 stars for what steam power there was

I got this steamer to clean around my house and am very pleased with it. It’s super easy to use; no difficulty with assembly or operation. Seems very well designed and built (I’m an engineer and don’t like shoddy stuff). On board storage compartment is convenient. Wish there were a cord wrap or hose wrap, but as this isn’t an everyday appliance, that’s not a big deal.
With the small brush attachment, it’s fairly easy to clean the grout in my kitchen floor. Some areas come clean easily, but those in the active cooking triangle are much harder and I’ve had to supplement with cleaning products (toilet bleach cleaner, diluted, applied with toothbrush). Basically, if your build-up is medium, then this is all the cleaner you need. If it’s heavy or old build-up, it takes more.
I tried it on the inside of my oven window. That build-up is several years in the making, and came off only in the areas where it wasn’t thick. Had to use dish soap and Bon Ami to work on the rest. Another area where the steamer will work well if it’s used more often (a couple times a year) rather than after 5 or 10 years.
The steam comes up quickly (about 10 minutes for a full tank). You have to stop from time to time to let the steam come up again, but it’s a short wait (and gives time for more scrubbing). It’s lightweight and easy to move around the house to clean different areas.

Amazing steamer! Lasts longer than any other steam I've had. Heats up quickly and does an amazing job. All other steamers use a plastic tank and smell of burnt plastic when using. This has a stainless steel tank and does not give off any odors. I can even steam my clothes without leaving a nasty rubber and burnt plastic smell on them. Love it so much I am buying another for a spare!
