Q: How is this product for milk intolerance and allergy when it contains a dairy protein, whey?

submitted by Frankie - 7 years ago
  • A: Two out of my three kids have had to use this formula. By far the only one I'd recommend. Even if it is just intolerance.

submitted byPringle - 2 years ago
  • A: From the Gerber website: "Extensively hydrolyzed formula are made by hydrolyzing cow’s milk protein to break down the proteins into tiny pieces to make the formula hypoallergenic." There is more information at https://www.gerber.com/products/product/gerber-extensive-ha

Kids/Toddler measuring guide

Use the tips & visuals in this guide to make taking your child's body measurements easy-peasy.

Don’t have a fabric tape measure? Use a shoelace or pant leg to measure. Then, lay it flat & use a ruler or tape measure to get a numerical measurement.

How to measure

  • Height

Standing with feet together and back to a wall. Measure from floor to the top of the head.

  • Chest

Have your child make airplane arms. Wrap tape measure around the fullest part of the chest, keeping it level & snug.

  • Waist

With your child bending to one side, measure the point where the waist flexes naturally. Keep the tape level & comfortably loose.

  • Hip

Have your child stand like a tall tree with feet together. Measure a level line around the fullest part of the hips & seat.

  • Inseam

Take a pair of pants that fit your child well. Measure along the seam from crotch to leg opening.

I like it better than Nutramigen in terms of the smell (this one doesn't have a scent, whereas Nutramigen smells awful). It is pricier than the Up & Up variety, which is our go-to, but unfortunately hasn't been available. This is a good substitute. If it wasn't so much more expensive, I'd probably use it long term. I also really appreciate that the scoop is beneath the lid but above the main seal, so you don't have to dig it out upon opening. That's a really great feature.

I THINK ALL HYPOALLERGENIC products are pricy, and wish they would offer larger cans for purchase. My daughter tolerated this formula well when she was used to drinking another brand. Thanks for letting Stormy participate in your product help 😀 #Nestlé #formula #hypoallergenic #sensitivebabies #milkallergy 🥛

The packaging was great and it also included a spoon to take measure the formula. This product is great for Infants/babies who are hypoallergenic. This specific product is on the pricier end , and hard to find, it’s better if you order online as I tried finding it in store; it was either out of stock or not in stock.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’m super grateful to have received these 2 full sized cans for free, but unfortunately I couldn’t use them. For context, my daughter has been on 4 different formulas, will drink both fresh and frozen (with high lipase) breastmilk, and she will drink from any bottle. She is not picky at all and has never before refused a bottle I’ve offered her. With that being said, she absolutely would not drink this formula. I tried 3 separate times, even mixed one with her usual formula… she wouldn’t drink it. I tried it because I was confused by her strong adversity, personally I think it smells and tastes better than the other formulas she’s drank (but obviously my opinion doesn’t matter since I’m not drinking it). Otherwise, I really liked that the scoop comes completely separate from the powder (no digging for it!)

At first he was taking it but after a few days he would just spit up and not want to take a bottle of this formula anymore. I have no idea why. I usually give him Similac total comfort. It was worth a try though 😃 also, it was 2 big cans that I’ll keep to see if he takes it later again if not I’ll have to gift it to a friends baby:

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] If I’m correct this is gerber brand and their not bad. My first son ended up switching to gerber when he was closer to 8 months. I got this formula for my second son who is currently 10 months. He was on a hypoallergenic formula for quite some time. Though one of those brands did not settle well on his tummy. I did try this one for him and he refused to drink it. That said though gerber is still an okay brand. I normally prefer enfamil but that’s just me. He just did not seem to like the taste of this hypoallergenic one though so I can’t really say if it would’ve worked for him or not.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My daughter has a milk allergy and we usually use similac alamentum which is pricey. I was excited to try this formula seeing it was cheaper. My baby was able to tolerate it well. The formula powder was very easy to mix with water and didn’t leave clumps in the milk. after mixing the bottle it seemed to be thin so I was concerned that it wouldn’t be as filling for her but she was full on the same amount as the other formula. She had no stomach discomfort or changes in her digestive system which was great. I highly recommend this product

Parents can feel confident in using Nestle Extensive HA Hypoallergenic Infant Formula as part of a management plan for cow's milk protein allergy. However, it's always advisable to consult with a healthcare provider or pediatrician before making any changes to your baby's feeding routine.
