Q: What type of material is this made of? Vitrelle glass?
A: Hi, Chan. Thanks for your question. These plates are made of opal glass. Opal is white tempered glass that is up to 3 times more resistant than most porcelain and ceramic dinnerware! Opal is lighter than porcelain, non-porous, chip-resistant, and is both microwave and dishwasher safe.

Q: Are these plates breakable under normal circumstances? Wanting to buy for family with young children.
A: This dinner plate is made from tempered opal glass. Tempering makes glass stronger and more resistant to mechanical and thermal shock, meaning it is a more durable item. Our opal plates are stronger than other non-tempered glass plates, but they are still glass and of course can still break under certain circumstances."
