Q: Is this recommended for first time moms? **I’ve read a lot of good reviews but everyone that has used it has had kids before and used an electronic pump.

This is not a pump so don't buy it as one. It helps collect any letdown you may have but won't actively suction/express out milk. If you are breastfeeding on one side placing this on the other will help collect for a future stash.

If you have an oversupply and actively leak while breastfeeding, this is the perfect solution! I literally auction this to my breast while my baby breastfeeds on the other side and catch about 1-2 oz per feed that we reuse for bottles. I wouldn’t recommend this as a pump but definitely as a solution to make use of leakage!

Everyone I know told me to buy one so I caved and got one to use with my second kid. I really don’t know why so many people rave about this… I love the ladybug one that this brand sells but this is just to large and bulky to use while breastfeeding. There are better options in my opinion.

I found this Haaka best for catching letdown. It can lightly suction onto your breast so you dont have to hold it there. I didnt have as much success using the suction to actually pump milk.

Before purchasing I did my research and the product seemed to be everything I was looking for and easy to use. But once I finally got it I was extremely disappointed. Once applied I cannot get it to express any milk… I will definitely be returning.

If you're pumping then this is essential. I used both to collect and also to remedy any clots. TIk tok has videos on how to use it for mastitis prevention.

The haakaa is so handy to help build a bit of a freezer stash without being tied to my pump. I love that the bottom has a suction cup and the little flower stopper prevents any spills of the good stuff. I love this thing!

I love this Haakaa breast pump. Since my baby only likes to drink on one side, it’s so helpful to suction the other breast to collect my let-down. I love the suction base since I’ve had so many other branded pumps fall and spill milk everywhere before. The suction is great and I love that it’s easy to sterilize in my steamer. The wide base also makes it easy to clean. The only con is that I do not like the flower stopper. Like other Haakaa breast pumps that I have, I prefer the silicone lid so I can easily drop it in the fridge or secure it better incase it drops on the floor. Otherwise, this breast pump trumps all other brands, I cannot recommend it enough! I have a growing collection of four in various sizes since you can never have enough for travel, work, home, etc.

Once my milk supply came in, I would get clots every now and then. I saw a few videos on moms using this haakaa to suction and remove clots and it worked. I’m 19 months postpartum and no longer pumping but in that first year I used this device almost on a monthly basis. Without it I probably would have had mastitis had to have gone to the ER.

If you need an actual pump DO NOT PURCHASE THIS ITEM! It’s not an actual manual pump, it only suctions on and catches some milk but you can’t pump it or it comes off and you can get engorged without any relief. I have 6 children, trust me!
