Complicated directions on how to open, turned out to be too complicated of a toy for 4 year old to play with. She enjoys "feeding it" and the hatching process was magical to her, although the many other features it apparently has remain a mystery to my child. Probably best for older kids.

The hatching process was really cool, my kids enjoyed it. However, after one day of use the hatchimal is no longer working. Sounds are glitching, the buttons are not working and the lights aren't working either.

It is so cute! Open it up and take the things off bottom of egg, then plug in the little wings on the shell.. the roll it around and hug it and interact about 10 minutes later it’ll start singing and smoke and I hatch it is so cute my kids loved it! After it hatched keep the bottom piece . It laughs repeats after you it dances sings plays

Overpromises, under delivers. It didn’t light up properly, no mist and a flawed opening experience made this anticlimactic and disappointing. Got the Hatchimal bunny, too, and same thing.

The lights, sounds and features made it SO realistic- seeming as though it was a newborn animal hatching! We have been explaining to her how different animals experience different ways of entering the world - of which; birds hatch! So this was so fun for her to be able to have a hands on experience and be able to enjoy it without putting a real animal in distress. The packaging was super durable and was impressed with all of the tossing and turning this critter did on its way to us that he didn’t “prematurely” hatch :)

The hatching process is pretty cool because it smokes and actually pecks through. The toy itself is really cool, you can teach it to talk. This would make a really fun and amazing Christmas/Birthday gift.
