Holiday Gnome Sugar Cookie Kit - 10oz - Favorite Day™

Have bought many of these kits over years. Super fun, tasty cookie and icing. Turn out perfectly! Dropped a star because this years’ box included icing bags that would NOT open - honestly seemed like single ply plastic. Not a big deal - I piped the icing using some ziplock bags. But this workaround might not work for all.

My son had a good time making this with me. Although to be honest, we didn’t read the box properly and you basically need to bake the cookies and make the frosting. Came out good though! You need to have butter, milk and powdered sugar on-hand to make it.

THIS IS BAD. I have never written a target dot com review before but my mortifying experience IN FRONT OF MY BOYFRIEND when trying to prepare this allegedly “easy to make” kit was debasing and demoralizing. I have lost my joie de vivre forever. The dough came out sticky and gloopy, a word i have only ever used to describe the tubby custard in teletubbies. To buy this kit is to enter into a faustian bargain with the target corporation. You lose money and they gain a scrap of your lost dignity. Do not buy this kit. If you want to unbox a lovecraftian horror of inscrutable texture, you are better off purchasing moon sand. At least thats shelf stable.

These were a pretty terrible buy. I should have read the box more closely, but usually a cookie kit that shows decorated cookies includes the decorations. This kit included SIX (6) red candy pieces, some sprinkles, dye, and cookie mix. No frosting, and not enough candy pieces to make the one dozen cookies promised on the front of the box. I realized after starting to make these that I needed to buy my own frosting or buy ingredients to make it. Fortunately, I had flour in the pantry to help with rolling these out, because the dough was WET. The cookies turned out with a weird lumpy, tough texture and bland flavor. The inclusion of red food dye to color the frosting you’re expected to furnish on your own is such an odd choice. I would have preferred to at least be provided enough red candy noses for every cookie. All in all, I regret buying this kit, I found it to taste bad and be a poor value, and whoever created these has questionable logic.

I liked to use for a fun activity

I love to bake! And I love gnomes! I really wanted the cookie cutter so I bought the kit. A kit is useful if you have prior baking knowledge. The gnome shape was very important to me so I refrigerated the dough overnight. My kit did NOT include the red color powder and I am so disappointed. The gnome cutter can be used to make ice cream cones, too! Too much fun!

I did not read closely enough and thought I was buying a cookie decorating kit. This kit is misleading because baking kit is in such a small font compared to the rest. The dough was quite sticky and hard to roll. I opted to purchase my own icing and decorations after I got home and realized my error.

We made the cookies and everything went welll until we made the frosting and the mixture just wouldn’t mix and the frosting turned curdy and has chunks or something I don’t know what it is, im scared for my life please don’t get this unless you want curdy and watery frosting.

Added vanilla but the taste is very good compared to other kits.

Cookies turned out okay, followed all instructions but frosting mix was too liquidy and didn’t taste good.

To use this kit you will need to provide your own 1.5 sticks of bitter, milk, egg, and powdered sugar. I wish they would have just provided frosting like every other kit. Not worth it. Might as well just make everything from scratch.

Mix tasted good but was way too liquidy to use cutters with or make a proper dough.

The name of this product should be "gnome sugar cookie MIX" no "gnome sugar cookies". I odered several boxes from my phone thinking they were actual cookies (as advertised) b/c the fine print was not legible when ordering from my phone. I would have never purchased if I realized it was a mix.
