This flat iron heats up very quickly and works as intended, but it snags hair regularly and pulls it out regardless of how careful you are. The cord is also extremely long, which I find frustrating because it gets in the way on my counter and if I inadvertently set the flat iron on it, it melts away parts of the cord casing where it’s touched.

I appreciated the adjustability. Pretty color….but that was it, plates don’t make contact. Can’t straighten small sections of hair. Had to squeeze but that just caused hair pulling. I will be returning this, sticking with my trusty Conair for half the price.

Very, very difficult to locate the buttons to turn this - on and off — and to adjust the temperatures; extremely awkward to use this item - I returned it!!
To hot to handle

This iron gets really hot where you hold and clamp it, even on medium settings. It also didn’t grip my hair well causing me to need several passes.

I have used hot tools flat irons for almost 30 years. I was debating between a few Influencer used flat irons that could only be found online when I came across this lavender beauty on sale in store. I was pleasantly surprised. I am African-American with transitioning hair. This iron was able to get my roots straight without having to use the highest heat. The only con is that the lavender color does not stay true to color and is starting to turn black, I’m assuming, from the heat.

I liked that it got hot really fast, the design I mean come on, I’m a girl…we like pretty things. Also liked that it was digital and how the digital parts worked. Like that I can can lock it closed. It did get almost too hot to handle and I had it at 415, then 380. I had to keep my hand very far down. Then I looked for the things other reviews talked about. I seen that there was a gap in the plates even when squeezing them together real hard. And I know the floating plates and how they work. They still had a decent sized gap. It didn’t seem to be a huge issue while doing my hair tho. And it was smooth gliding through. No snagging involved at all! I bought this for 65 bucks. I also bought a 25 dollar Conair while buying this one and honestly it did just as good. Less hot to handle though. And it doesn’t have a lock on it. Other then that it does the same job. For 40 bucks less…I may take it back. Gonna see if that gap becomes an issue in the next few days before I decide. Hope this helps! Happy straightening!

I like hot tools first off and I bought this flat iron because it’s affordable and a good brand. I did read all the reviews before buying and hesitated a bit regarding hair being pulled plates not closing right etc. when I ended up buying it I took a chance to see it for my self. not everyone has the same hair and everyone has their own personal experience. Here’s mine. My hair wasn’t pulled, it flat iron my hair nicely, left it soft , handles did not get hot at all. The plates do however tilt to the sides depending how you are flat ironing your hair so I’m guessing that’s why people comment that the plates don’t close evenly not sure. I need to get used to that because my old one had plates that didn’t tilt from side to side. Overall I was very impressed if you’re looking for a salon look definitely would look for something on the higher brand. If not and looking for something decent this is great!

Too hot! The cover around the plates gets so hot it seemed it would melt. Couldn’t get a good grip on the handle as it got hotter

Looks good but doesn’t give salon results definitely not professional heat quality. I had to do many passes and still didn’t straighten my hair like my BaByliss iron with 2 passes The heat on Hot Tools is 450 and heat on BaByliss is 425 with the professional bliss winning by a long shot also you have to lay it down on it’s side won’t stay upright if you don’t need extreme heat this may work for you my hair type slight wave 100 percent natural gray course dry and frizzy that’s being said it’s just not for me.
Too much space

There is a lot of space between the plates. When you close it they do not touch, so it makes it difficult to curl.

I have no idea how this thing has so many 5 star reviews. It’s absolutely horrible. Ripped out my hair and did a terrible job at straightening - far worse quality than my old straightener that was less than half the price.

Had this for a couple of weeks before finding a new brand to purchase. I did not use high heat, but not only pulled my hair, but did a lot of damage. Would not recommend, at all. .

Works pretty well for straightening, but it pulls my hair BADLY. I have curly hair and the floating plates practically eat my hair. I like the adjustable temperature and it heats very quickly, but the hair pulling is a huge downside.
DO NOT BUY-SNAGS HAIR.

Irons don’t clamp all the way down. Snags hair SOOOOOO much. I only did 3 small sections of my hair before I unplugged it and went back to my old flat iron from Amazon. DO NOT BUY
Didn't work for thick wavy hair

Did not clamp down hard enough to even work. All it did was iron down crimps in my hair and wouldn't actually clamp the hair hard enough to straighten it. I have thick wavy hair. It did get hot but just did not work by actually straightening the hair. Curls better than it straightens. I had to return to store and get a Chi.
Perfect for quick hairstyles!

This product was gifted by hottools. This Hot Tools Flat Iron came into my life at the perfect time. I had a wedding to go to last week and everyone complimented me on how smooth and straight my hair looked! I even tried curls this week with the flat iron and it turned out great. I recommend trying it at least once; and make sure to use heat protectant and styling spray for the best effect. This flat iron specifically is amazing because has an LED screen to show you the exact temperature, and it heats up super fast. Plus the lavender color looks pearl-ish which is beautiful. Definitely my go-to from here on out

This is such a pretty hair tool. I love the color and more than that how it easily glides on my hair - there was no tugging of my hair. It heats up very quickly and temp is customizable. I used this to straighten and curl my hair and it worked great for either. Gifted by hot tools.

This is a great flat iron. It heats up fast so you don’t have to wait forever to start on your hair. It gives a smooth easy glide on your hair so there’s no tugging or pulling at the hair. I also love the sleek design and pretty color! Gifted by hot tools
