When in use the unit requires 5 inches of space on all sides to provide proper air circulation. We do not recommend that this be used in a partially enclosed space.

A: The Vortex/parts/accessories are PFOA and BPA free and compliant with FDA standards. The coating materials for the cooking trays and drip tray do contain PTFE, also known as Teflon, and these coatings are PFOA free.

Q: Is there any trick for getting the panel to function despite the lack of real buttons? I have to press the words multiple times, often upwards of 30 seconds, to get the panel to engage. Also any plans for an upgrade with actual buttons?

This air fryer has been great, until things start failing right after the warranty period is over. The door sensor has failed, not recognizing that it is open. Message boards online seem to indicate that this also happens in the opposite direction, making it think the door is open and rendering it useless. At least mine failed while the thing was still going, so I can still use it but it won't shut off when I open the door, and I have to unplug it to reset it every time now.

I truthfully cannot tell you how old my Vortex is but it's well over 4 years! And I can promise you I use it almost daily! I've learn to adjust cook temp and times pretty well and appreciate the ease. As has been mentioned the lights on the display have dimmed but function and are still readable! I would/WILL buy this again when the time comes. My only regret is that there is not a larger model! ★★★★★

I’ve had the Instant Pot® Vortex® Plus 10QT Air Fryer Oven for about a year now, and unfortunately, this is the third model I’ve owned in just five years, and I’m starting to wonder if the brand’s quality control is lacking in certain areas. While the Vortex® Plus has some great features and the potential to be an excellent kitchen appliance, there are a few major frustrations that have made me seriously consider looking for a different option. The primary issue I’ve had with this model—and with the two previous Instant Pot air fryers I’ve owned—is the display. After a few months of use, the touchscreen becomes unresponsive, and I have a really hard time pressing the buttons. I’ll tap the function (air fry, bake, etc.) and nothing happens. Another area where I’m disappointed is with the ease of cleaning. One of the main selling points of air fryers is supposed to be that they are easy to clean, but the Vortex® Plus has been a bit of a letdown in this regard. While you can wipe down the non-stick surfaces, grease tends to accumulate in the harder-to-reach corners and around the edges, and it requires extra effort to scrub those areas. When the machine is functioning correctly, the performance is generally pretty solid. The 10QT size is great for larger families or meal prepping, and it cooks food quickly and evenly. The air frying function works well, delivering crispy results without needing much oil. I’ve used it for everything from chicken wings to roasted vegetables, and the results are generally consistent. I really wanted to love this machine, but at this point, the frustration with the touchscreen and the extra effort required to clean it after every use makes me hesitant to recommend it. If you’re someone who values ease of use and reliability, you might want to explore other options that don’t come with the same recurring issues.

Plastic smell after running it 12 times. We tried everything to remove the plastic smell. I think we will throw it away. My wife got it for her birthday last year and we can't use it because of the burnt plastic smell. We should have returned it. If you buy one and it has a plastic smell after running it 6 times you need to return it and get another brand.

Worst investment I've ever made. The air fryer does not hear equally through out. It will burn the top row of food and the middle row will be raw half cooked or raw. It is not as expected. We got it so we could cook more at once but can still only cook one row at a time or try rotating them every couple of minutes so it cooks evenly. Ultimately not worth it and have to buy a new one.

This little machine has been the best appliance I have EVER purchased. We use it for everything from reheating to roasting meat of any kind. We take it in our camper and it serves at our oven. In the summer no hot kitchen if you have this and want to bake. I make cakes and cookies in this too. I don’t know what I would do now without it!!

I used to love it but now, the temperature changes to the highest temperature on its on, no warning, and then the temperature control screen freezes so you cannot adjust it back. You have to totally unplug it before you can adjust the temp again.

I bought mine 2020 August. So it's 40 years old never had any problem with this machine I love to use the basket which is rotating so it's awesome for shrimps and french fries and chicken tenders. After 4 years the digital display not working perfectly but it's still readable and doing the job... If it would break down I would buy the exact same thing

At first, I was scared of my instant vortex air fryer oven. Now I have cooked so many things I have lost count. I absolutely love it! The only thing that I have a problem with is finding recipes for it! I love all of the options and can't really find any downside to it. It really does save on electricity so much that I haven't used my big oven during the summer.
