Q: Is the cord the only part that causes the prop65 warning? The earlier answer did not answer this specifically. Yes the cord causes prop 66 warning, but are there more parts that cause this warning as well?

submitted by Kate - 4 years ago
  • A: Chlorinated Paraffins leaking from the componentry is the likeliest reason for Prop 65 warning.

submitted byKatya - 3 months ago
  • A: Hi Kate, The warning in your Use and Care Guide is printed in order for Whirlpool Corporation to be in compliance with California state law. In the State of California there exists what is referred to "Proposition 65." Proposition 65 is the California Safe Drinking and Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986. Any company that operates in California, sells its products in California or manufactures products that may be sold or brought into California is subject to Proposition 65. Since our products are sold in California, Proposition 65 applies to us. Proposition 65 requires warning labels on any product that may contain or produce any of the 600-plus elements that the California Air Resources Board considers carcinogenic or a reproductive toxicant. These elements include lead (contained in the solder used to attach electronic parts to the printed circuit boards), brass, PVC and a multitude of other everyday elements and gas products burn fuels (natural gas or propane) that contain trace levels of chemicals on the list. This list also contains a wide range of naturally occurring and synthetic chemicals, including common household products, foods, drugs, dyes and solvents. Whirlpool is committed to manufacturing safe and high quality appliances, as we always have done. Should any product contain or produce even the slightest amounts of chemicals on the list, even when accepted and regulated concentrations are not exceeded, Whirlpool will liberally warn consumers even though we fully comply with the Act.

    Excellent Hand Blender

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was very pleasantly surprised at how well this hand blender works. I use it to make mayonnaise and it does a fantastic job. It is powerful, but not too much so. I don't need it to pulverize my ingredients, just blend/emulsify/mix as needed. It has exceeded my expectations. The hand mixer has the right balance of power and efficiency. There are many hand/immersion blenders out there and I am very happy I chose this KitchenAid. I highly recommend it.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve been really impressed with the KitchenAid Cordless Blender! It’s powerful, easy to use, and the cordless feature makes blending super convenient—no more being stuck near an outlet. The battery lasts a good amount of time, and it charges quickly. It’s also lightweight but still feels sturdy. Perfect for smoothies, soups, and sauces. My only minor complaint is that it’s a bit pricey, but the convenience makes it worth it!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this corded red hand blender almost a month ago. I’ve only used it once because we went on vacation soon after we received it. But I did make a fabulous sweet potato, kale, lentil curry soup and used the hand blender to purée the soup so it wasn’t as chunky. I love how it works! It saved me from having to transfer soup over to my beloved but heavy stand blender which is a big hassle. I plan to use this blender every time I make soup.

(This review was collected as part of a promotion.) I’ve been using this immersion blender for a few months now, and it’s amazing! I mostly use it for soups, and it blends everything effortlessly—smooth and even every time. It’s the perfect size, it doesn’t take up much space in my small studio kitchen. Super easy to use, secure, and a breeze to clean.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve only used this once. After making some delicious chunky soup I used the hand bender to purée 75% of the soup. It ended up having just the right texture. Just as importantly it was a great time saver. I didn’t have to pull out my still beloved but super heavy KitchenAid blender to purée soup. It’s just so handy to hand blend right in the soup pot! My hand blender is corded but cord never got in the way. Great product!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Was on the hunt for a new stick mixer after my 15yr old one gave up (different brand), came across the KA one and figured at its price point it’ll “do the job”. Well did I under estimate this little power house or what?!?! It blends soups, smoothies; chops herbs and nuts, whips up a great dip and incredibly easy to wash. Highly recommend this versatile kitchen gadget especially if storage space is an issue.

My soup was ruined but I was impressed with the power and abilities of the blender. Kitchenaid replaced the part at no cost thanks to their warranty. All in all pretty satisfied minus dinner being ruined.
