La Roche Posay Effaclar Dual Action Acne Wash for face thoroughly removes excess oil, while clearing acne blemishes and helping prevent new acne formation. This pore cleanser is formulated with 4% benzoyl peroxide and 0.1% micro-exfoliating LHA, this oily skin face wash also visibly evens skin texture and renews skin.

Directions use every morning and evening, apply a dime-size amount to damp skin and gently massage, avoiding the eye area, rinse well, use wash on entire affected area one to two times daily, because excessive drying of the skin may occur, start with one application daily, then gradually increase to two or three times daily if needed or as directed by a doctor, if bothersome dryness or peeling occurs, reduce application to once a day or every other day, if going outside, apply sunscreen after using this product. It has a creamy, non-foaming texture that feels gentle going on, but you can tell it’s doing its job. It helps calm active breakouts pretty quickly and keeps new ones from popping up, especially if you’re consistent. It does have benzoyl peroxide, so I started slow to avoid dryness, but with moisturizer it’s totally manageable. Overall, it’s a solid go to if you’re dealing with acne and want something effective but not harsh.

The only issue is it will irritate sensitive skin and irritated the crease of my nose. Otherwise, it think it's a good cleanser for people who need extra strength washes.

Even though the cleanser has micro-exfoliating LHA there is no rough texture to the product. There is no strong scent just the benzoyl peroxide just it’s nothing crazy.

I have used both benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid cleaning products for YEARS. I would say that 99% of the time they are OK at that they claim to do. But the key here now, is that cleaning products are just part of your acne treatment regimen. In my quest to find a new acne treatment regimen for myself, I was pleased to find a product that combined the benefits of both chemicals - thus the DUO in the name. It is a well made product that is easy to apply and easy to remove. It does a wonderful job of cleaning my face, but it does aggravate the skin barrier a bit. I am willing to accept this barrier trauma (and treat it accordingly with other products) in exchange for some amazingly responsive and remarkably clearer skin.

I later read that a lot of this product was recalled because the amount of benzoyl peroxide was too high and unsafe. Will continue to purchase other products from this brand but won’t be using this again. Please note that I got this product in exchange for an honest review.
