We enjoyed Botley for a few months until it began veering & continuously spinning left. We've tried turning off/on, replacing batteries, but it doesn't respond to commands anymore.

Botley was a gift. We loved this product. It's a bit boring for my 7 year old but my younger kid absolutely loves Botley. Unfortunately we now are dealing with an upset child because he wants me to fix it and other than replacing batteries I have no idea what to do. Botley doesn't respond to his remote any longer. We had it maybe one year before it stopped working. Consumer guarantees in Nz is only 12 months so no point going back to the person who gifted it to find out the supplier. Now it's just a useless toy never to be played with again. Very sad.

Terrible quality

Great idea, terribly disappointing quality that renders the great idea useless - it veers to one side, strongly, so that whatever you program it to do doesn't translate. Will be trying to return to store.

Good idea but let down by final product

It's a great idea but i am left feeling let down and frustrated. It is simple to use and instructions are easy to follow. My 5 year old can easily handle it but after a short while becomes annoyed due to the fact that it doesn't go in a straight line (veers to the right) and therefore if programming a longer move (10+) it goes off course. It's very frustrating for her as she is programming the correct moves but has to try and fix that fact that it doesn't go straight. If it was better made or the parts (especially wheels) were accessible then maybe we could tighten the wheels as they have a wobble, which I believe is causing it to veer to the side during straight moves. Apart from this it is great and useful for leaning the basics of programming screen free.

Terrible Product

Terrible. Do Not Buy! There is no product support for this product and no way to reach anyone. We put together our robot and the remote just makes loud very obnoxious beeps and does not work. The only way to make the beeps stop is to remove the battery. There is absolutely no information anywhere regarding this. The information in the "booklet" is incredibly limited with NO troubleshooting section. This product is way to expensive to have issues. Lesson learned by my kids was to stay away from technology.

New Language

Coding is the new universal language, so much so that it is now being accepted in many states to fulfill a foreign language requirement. The Botley coding robot is a teaching tool and toy all in one that helps children gain early literacy in the coding language. This can excite curiosity and enhance learning which can be expounded upon throughout elementary, middle and high school. Botley is easy to use for young children and very engaging! I would definitely recommend Botley to teachers and parents!

Perfect for teaching coding to our homeschooled first grader

As a homeschooling family, we seek out hands-on, screen free learning opportunities. We couldn't be more thrilled with Botley, the coding robot. Our 6 year old is learning beginning coding, and more importantly, learning that you may not complete the challenge on the first try, but sticking with it will lead you to success! What a wonderful, educational toy! I love that after I have taught her how to program Botley and set up challenges, she can use her creativity to design her own challenges and navigate through them!

Wonderful robot for kids !

What is not to like about this robot . It's a durable little guy that just keeps on going . Let me preface this buy saying that it's meant for younger kids so if you are buying this for a teen they probably won't be the age range for this HOWEVER my oldest son is 11 and is used to the lego mindstorm EVE 3 systems and he was impressed that for a robot geared towards youth that it has similar input and controls so it definitely helps younger kids with having the basic knowledge for more complex robots. Which I like because it's not just a button pushing toy but a learning tool. My 11 and 9 year olds were able to set the robot up for their younger brother and sister with ease . So the instructions were clear enough for children to even use it. Their 6 yr old brother which the robot was for figured out the controls fairly easily but needed a little help at first. My 3 yr old just pressed the buttons but still it beeps and moves so it was fun for her but I wouldn't let them use it just it was nice to see it took the abuse of a toddler and still kept trucking .
