My 16 month old loves this toy. So glad it came with a basket. she has been naming all of the foods as she takes them in and out of the basket. I feel like she will get lots of use of it. Well made... can withstand those moments where they forget it's pretend food.

We’ve purchased other brands like Melissa and Doug and KidKraft. The quality of the play food is amazing compared to those brands. I will definitely be purchasing more sets. See pictures below for comparison with KidKraft. Learning Resources on left and KidKraft on right.

Bought this to go with the"market" we purchased for our grandson's Bday! He has not seen it yet, but we LOVED it! Great fruit/veggie selections as well as other market items! Nice market basket, too!

I was first introduced to this food in my friend's kid's play kitchen. The food is high quality and adorable, and I love that healthy and delicious food options are featured in this set. I ended up purchasing a set for my daughter and two of my nephews for gifts this year.
I have bought this product twice.

I like how realistic the food, fruits and vegetables look. My grandchildren love to pretend they are cooking or baking in the kitchen. We even do picnics. The product holds up to being chewed as the grandchildren pretend eat. Thanks for such high quality products.

They had a blast making foods and serving each other. The food has such rich and vibrant colors and they kids loved them. My dream for my children is that they won't be tied down with the unhealthy food cravings that I have as an adult. I know eating unhealthy is learned but so is eating healthy. I do run into a problem with the grandparents choosing to feed an outrageous amount of unhealthy food to my girls but you have to pick your battles with your parents also.

This play set encourages imaginative play and healthy-eating habits making it fantastic for acting out certain real life situations. It includes 30 different types of freshly designed produce. Their realistic pieces are soft yet solid so they do not cave in when squeezed like most other play food. This set also includes a shopping basket and a bushel basket. When it arrived I was so excited to open it up and give it to M. She helped me open the box and place the food around the house so we could "go shopping" right away. After shopping, M used her cash register to ring up the food, then cooked it, and served it. It was so much fun! This is such a wonderful set! We can even pretend to go to the farmers market and use our bushel basket. I love that this set includes things needed to build a sandwich and M's favorite fruits and veggies. I also noticed that the pieces are the PERFECT size for little hands! This past weekend she was able to show off her new food and play "market" with her cousin. My 5yr old nephew pretended to have a shopping list and M asked him if he had any coupons at checkout, it was so cute. It amazes me how much our children grasp with just a few trips to the grocery store. They had a blast and they were so fun to watch. She loved this set so much that we plan on ordering the New Sprouts Picnic Food Set for Christmas!

I received this product to review free of charge on my blog Second Time Around. My thoughts are 100% my own. My boys both love to play in their little play kitchen and play store. We have bought play food over the years but none of it even comes close to the quality of this food. The food looks realistic and is made of soft, durable plastic. I love that it comes with a basket and bucket. My boys have so much fun playing store and kitchen with them. It's a great way to teach them about nutrition, different food groups, sorting, colors, and further their vocabulary with names of foods they didn't know. This has provided hours of entertainment and at first I thought the price was a little high but after receiving these foods and seeing the amount you receive and the quality, this is actually a great deal!

The thing I really like about the New Sprouts play food, in general, is that while they are made of plastic, they are realistic in design and mimic real food. The size is great for almost toddlers and preschoolers alike. If you wanted a great base for your child's play food collection, this set would be the ultimate because it comes with a bushel and basket for easy carrying and playing with the food. The variety ranges from vegetables to fruit to sweets and in-between. You can build upon this collection with other New Sprouts food to give your child a fabulous kitchen pantry to play and cook with. Kenzie loves to cook and has learned many new foods due to her Learning Resources New Sprouts play food sets. It is amazing how playing with play food influences what a child eats in real life. She is open to trying new foods because she has played with it and I hope that goes the same with Mason. It's funny how Mason gravitates toward the apple and orange. I offer him the other foods but he will find the apple and orange somehow and start chowing down. The play food is always a hit when Kenzie's friends visit our house. They play market and have a picnic as well as serve the parents. I love that the children are learning while having tons of fun - win win!

A little imagination can go a very long way with the Sprouts Deluxe Market Set from Learning Resources. This is by far the best play food set that I've come across for my children. It's versatility, high quality, and variety is quite attractive to not just children but parents and teachers as well. The variety of foods included in this set is what really drew me to it. There 30 different types made up of fruits, vegetables, meats, dairy, grain, and desserts. This combination opens up the door for lessons on nutrition, food groups, and healthy over maybe not so healthy choices. I've also used it in having the kids sort the foods by groups and by color. All lesson planning aside, this set is also fantastic for playing pretend and acting out certain real life situations. Activities we've liked to do is to pretend we are going shopping to the farmers market and grocery store. Other role-playing includes being the grocer or farmer. And often my kids will role-play restaurant where one child is the waiter taking orders or chef and the other is the eagerly waiting customer. Picnic indoors, why not? The detail in this set is something I'm very impressed with. I often have come across food sets that lack detail and seem bland. These pieces are very colorful but not overly. The size I found to be ideal for children's hands. My son loves to stack the pieces together to make a sandwich. The sandwich pieces don't slip out and end up everywhere. That's something I appreciate with a little one that sometimes gets really frustrated when trying to put something together and it doesn't work out like it should. Overall, my daughter age 5 and my son age 2 1/2 are quite the fan of the market set. It's been played with nearly every day since I gave it to them! I very much like toys and sets that are fun and functional getting use after use. This set is easy to store as the basket and bushel included hold all the included food pieces without them overflowing or tumbling out. Great set for home or in the classroom. Highest of recommendations.

Teaching your children healthy eating habits is wonderful. We try to start teaching healthy habits from the time they are very young. Making our own baby food, limiting snacks to fresh fruit and veggies, drinking water etc... Doing these things and more is great, but if their play time centers around junk food, it just does not reinforce those habits. With toys like the New Sprouts Deluxe Market Set you can keep encouraging healthy habits through play time. I think this set does a great job of teaching "all things in moderation" which is what we strive for. If our kids are eating healthy all week then it's fun to treat them to some ice cream or homemade cookies. The Deluxe Market Set has a great balance and is filled with bright, attractive foods. I certainly did not need to ask our son twice to play with these. He immediately dug into the foods and started sorting. He asked if he could make a lunch. We are thrilled to have this set in our toy collection.

I am a blogger at Momma in Flip Flops2 and this is by far the best food set we've ever had. I'm the mother of four and this food is durable and not a cheap plastic. Perfect for withstanding a lot of play! The colors are vibrant and the set comes with a variety of products to encourage lots of imaginative play.

I received this product for review on my blog, Mommy and Me Giveaways. My son has had play food in the past, made by another brand, but it was wooden, and eventually looked pretty bad from teeth marks and scratches on it. Not to mention he throws his toys a lot and I was always worried a wooden apple would go straight through the window one day! This play food set includes a wide variety of foods and they are made of plastic, but nothing like those cheap hard plastic food sets you usually find on the value aisle at the toy store. Most of this plastic food is actually soft plastic and flexible, so when my son pretends to take a bite (and actually does take a bite!) he is not leaving teeth marks all over it. Some pieces are hard, but the quality of plastic is so much nicer and more durable than other plastic sets I've seen, and I'm not worried about him breaking it like I would with those "value" sets. The New Sprouts Deluxe Market Set encourages imaginative play, and it has also helped my picky eater learn about some new foods, although he still won't try the real thing! This set includes a lot of fruits and vegetables, but also has a lot of other yummy foods that little kids are more likely to love such as an ice cream sandwich, juice box, hot dog, and pretzels. My son will pretend to eat the fruits and vegetables too, although he eats very few real fruits and vegetables. We like to pretend to go to the market and then take our food on a picnic lunch. Now we just need a toy dish set and we'll be all set for our pretend meals!

Being a teacher and a mother of 2 preschool age children I try to each Healthy eat and we often us a farmers market to teach this. When I ordered this the Learning Resources is great to use I was beyond please with the very fast delivery. They also have a Facebook page where they show the LATEST in toys for children of all ages. The Twitter and Pinterest pages are FULL of ideas for your family or classroom. I was looking for some "normal food" not just canned goods and junk food for my children and students to play with. This was the best one I could find for a decent price online. When the package arrived I was more than pleasantly surprised to find fairly realistic looking foods and tons of it! Pat and John love the food and has already learned most of the items by name. It's been a great hands-on tool for us to help development and lessons in my Head Start classroom. We even did a picnic on a snowy day we had. It was great to change up the classroom to in summer time fun event while the snow was falling.

We received the Sprouts Deluxe Market Set through a review program with Learning Resources. I have to say I am extremely impressed!! We have gone through LOADS of playfood with out play kitchen, with most of it being made from cheap, thin and flimsy plastic. They would get dented, deflated and make my kids frustrated since everthing would slip off a plate. The Sprouts Deluxe Market Set solves ALL those issues!! It's made from more of a durable, rubber like material making it pretty much impossible to be dented or deformed due to the air being squashed out. Plus the rubber like material makes it much easier for sandwiches to stay together and for everything to keep from slipping off a plate. All in all we are VERY happy with it and highly recomend it!
