I’m not a super experienced LEGO builder, but I’ve built a number of complicated kits and I’m also a very advanced plastic model builder. I can say, unequivocally, that this was the most difficult LEGO set I’ve ever built! It fought me all along the process. Sometimes, none of directions made much sense as it wasn’t really obvious. It took awhile in the process before it started to actually look like a boat. I admit, many of the problems were my own, but I became quite frustrated and a bit confused with this one. The geared parts for the masts didn’t work well, or not all. Don’t know if that was intentional or my mistakes. This was one I was really excited about, but sadly based on my experience, I’d never do that again! I need a break from LEGOs for a bit. By the way, there is ZERO playability with this set. It is very fussy about even being moved a little! This is definitely not for kids!

I really enjoyed the build and the result. Disappointed that the pneumatic controls are not accessible once the build is complete. This makes the playability score very low. Otherwise a very nice trophy for my shelf.

Received this super set as a ‘surprise’ Christmas present. (This was on my wish list from last year when it was released) I’m an avid sailor and follower of Americas Cup, Vendee Globe and other major sailing events. It was a superb build and looks absolutely stunning and beautiful. The only small observation/comment I would make for the Jib/Headsail is that the OMEGA name being printed on the Port side of the sail is in Reverse - most sailmakers would have either put it ‘Back to Back’ or one above the other. Highly recommended - my sailing colleague has seen it and has bought one! Any chance of scaled mini figures as crew for future models? Thank you. ⛵️

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am so bummed out that my Lego yacht is missing pieces. 😭 I was really excited about building this Lego masterpiece but I quickly realized that it's missing some pieces and I cannot go forward without them. So much excitement wasted!

I'm a fan of the America's Cup, as well as Pete and the rest of the ETNZ crew so when this set was introduced it was a no-brainer purchase. The build was very enjoyable, and while some of the steps were a little challenging (big fingers, small parts?) I don't really have any complaints. I'm still playing with the sail trimming functions and the pneumatic foil cant system despite this being a display set. Still brings a smile to my face seeing the cyclor positions faithfully reproduced. Rapidly running out of room for my sets; if Lego keeps this up I'm going to have some tough decisions to make!

The set was really fun to build. The build was complex and interesting. All of the functions work as they should. I saw a review on here where someone said the switches to the pneumatics are hidden once you build it and it's inaccessible. You don't access the switches on the pneumatics you use the red pieces at the bottom of the stand to flip the switches.

Fun on the learning curve

This is my second Technic build and my first using pneumatics. Instructions were easy to follow, and the build was challenging enough that I felt as if I was learning a lot. My initial test of the completed pneumatic circuit didn't work, but that was because the control levers were in the central position. Once I moved those, the raising and lowering of the foils worked perfectly. It's currently displayed sitting on a base plate because I found that turning the crank handles quickly to pump up the pneumatics could tip the boat, so it's more stable on a wider base. My only minor criticism is that it would have been nice if it had printing on both sides of the jib, like the real one. As it is, it can only really be displayed from one side.

Pneumatics?

I follow sailboat racing, so was excited for this. The build was fun, but I am extremely confused about the use of pneumatics here, as the valve switches are completely inaccessible once finished. I've gone through the instructions several times and have no random leftover parts. Are they included simply as a "hidden" feature? If so, that's a needless price inflation, and false advertising. There's even a picture on the box showing the foil arms actuating. Lego, if you're listening, please provide an explanation because currently I am extraordinarily disappointed in the final result of this build.

Thanks for taking time to leave a review and share your experience. The pneumatic tubes in the set are functional and will pump up the hydrofoil cant arms. To activate, use the crank completed on step 38 and turn the red switch installed on step 27. You'll see the cant arms raise and drop. If you have any issues or need troubleshooting assistance, please reach out at LEGO.build/Service-BV so we can help out!

I am especially pleased to see a set of this caliber that deals with a non-ICE machine. Building the set could lead to an interest in green technology or to participation in a sport. Well done.
