Q: Many reviews love your product , however , on the same note, complain the base leaks and/or developes cracks at the bottom of unit within a year of use. Has this been addressed by Life straw ?

Q: You mentioned that it removes microplastics but the pitcher itself is made of plastic so how is that possible?

submitted by Gilda - 8 months ago
  • A: Hi Gilda, Thank you for the email. We share your concerns about microplastics in our water, and take their presence and removal seriously. Microplastics are defined as plastic particulate 1 μm and 1000 μm in size. They can be intentionally made for specific uses, like microbeads in cosmetics, or from when larger plastic items break down due to weathering, material breakage, or mechanical forces. Additionally, microplastics can originate from synthetic fibers shedding off textiles during washing and use. The pitchers and housing are made of durable plastic materials that do not break down with normal use or time, and do not contribute to microplastic particulate in your water. All materials are also BPA-free and approved and verified for water contact. We also try to ensure we are responsible at manufacturing stages to limit waste when and where possible. Our LifeStraw membrane microfilters are made of Polysulfone, a high-performance thermoplastic that's tough and safe. It maintains its strength even in high temperatures, ensuring safe and reliable filtration. Thus, our product itself won't introduce microplastics into your water through regular usage at the normal temperature condition. The LifeStraw membrane microfilter is specifically designed to remove microplastic particles from drinking water. Through rigorous testing, we've confirmed that our filters block an impressive 99.999% of 1µm microplastic particulates in water. The high rate of reduction efficacy shows that our LS Home product do not add microplastics to the filtered water, and confirms our product itself won't introduce microplastics into your water through regular usage. We have recently posted a blog on this subject at our site. I recommend reviewing it for more information about the emerging science and how our products fit into the conversation: https://lifestraw.com/blogs/news/filtering-microplastics-and-nanoplastics-from-drinking-water Thank you for reaching out and please let us know if we can be of further assistance. We're happy to help.

Q: What filters should I purchase for the 7-cup pitcher?

submitted by LJ - 10 months ago
  • A: Thanks for your question! Your are eventually going to need replacement filters for the membrane microfilter lasts 264 gallons (1 year) and the activated carbon + ion exchange filter lasts 40 gallons (2 months).

Love the glass!

I had the plastic 10-cup pitcher previously, but the plastic cracked and started to leak so I upgraded the glass. The glass feels really sturdy and I appreciate the silicone bottom. I love LifeStraw's filters as it removes the odd taste tap water sometimes has.

I really like the pitcher, your company mission, and the filtration system. It works well for what I need, and I plan to use it for a long time. My one critique is that the top of the filter is not as secure in the base as I would like, and it slides forward when pouring. My previous filter pitcher never had this problem, even after 5 years of use, and the Life Straw one is already having it. I can hold the lid on while pouring just fine, and it’s not too much of an inconvenience, but something to consider in future designs! Thank you :)

It is a very good product. I reduced from a 10 cup plastic to. 7 cup glass . It is smaller and heavier but I do appreciate the safety and cleanliness of the glass . Thank you for making it. The water filter works great and water taste very good and I feel safe using it .

We really like this pitcher. It would be great if it was just a little shorter; doesn’t fit on the fridge shelves.

It's the best water system I've had. It does a great job letting me pour even when it hasn't finished filtering all the water.

I love the LifeStraw- water tastes great. The pitcher is tall and a bit bottom heavy so is a bit hard to lift and pour easily.

Very happy with the pitcher. It has saved us a lot of money not buying bottled water. Also, a lot healthier than tap water.

After many years of using a plastic filter pitcher, I was thrilled to find this glass pitcher. Unfortunately, it doesn't fit in my refrigerator but looks great on my counter.

I’m at my one year anniversary of purchase. Needed to buy the yearly filter pack (please bring back that 6 pack with the combo). But I love this product so much that I purchased a second one for my massage therapy practice. Having clean water is always important. Occasionally water services requires boil water notice. Making lifestraw even more important. Before lifestraw I still didn’t buy bottled water. The ethics of this company is another key element why I chose them. The water tastes wonderful!!

Pretty, but the design needs adjustments

The water tastes very good, but the balance of the handle is off; it is very high up, and the pitcher is so heavy on the bottom, it is hard to pour with one hand. I am worried that the glass handle will break off while I'm pouring it due to the weight and balance. I don't know if it is tempered. It's rather tall and a bit hard to get into the fridge. I had an extremely hard time getting the filter parts in and out. The design needs work. It is pretty looking though.

Need to rate Zero stars. It’s false advertising. Product says it is a glass pitcher but it is made of plastic.

7-Cup Glass Pitcher

4 out of 5 stars
Dottie W. - 15 days ago
originally posted on LifeStraw
The reason I chose the rating Good vs. Great is because when filling the pitcher with water it is hard to see when it is almost full til all of a sudden water spills over. It is also a little heavy, although I knew this when I chose the glass vs. plastic and that’s why I purchased the smaller 7-cup vs. the 10-cup for the weight reason. Also, there is no warning on the pitcher when the filters need to be changed. Before switching over to LifeStraw my other name brand water pitcher had a warning on the lid when the filter needed to be changed which was very convenient…I now just mark it on my calendar. Love the Wisteria color I chose, a mix of light purple and gray which is so pretty. The filtered water has no smell and tastes so good and knowing my well-water is being filtered from unhealthy bacteria/chemicals, well that is the most important feature to me, therefore, I would rate “Great” in this case and I would definitely recommend this product!!
