Q: How the heck do I open the top of this filter pitcher? I feel this is one of those moments where I am missing but I have tried everything and I can not open the pitcher.

  • A: I have the same problem. There is no place for air intake to offset the water as it pours out which causes glugging and splashing. the flip lid doesn't function smoothly as others have also reported.

Q: I peeled up the handle top rubber part and the button under it is IMPOSSIBLE to press down on. I just pulled up the pitcher top using the rubber part. Broken or bad design?

Q: What model # filter does this pitcher use? I bought the PUR PLUS RF-9999 filter and it is much shorter than the one that came with the pitcher. The instructions that came with it are for an older model.

Q: Which filter does this model use? It doesn't say anywhere on the box. I bought the RF999 PUR Plus filter but, it is a much shorter filter. Instructions that came with the pitcher are for older model. This model isn't even listed on the PUR website

    Temporarily using this until I can get a filter for home. I have gone through at least 4 of these over the past 2 years. The button to open the hatch for the filter sometimes can break, as well as the actual pitcher (very sensitive material). Takes 15 minutes to filter the water. The only reason I continue to buy is that I bought 2 years worth of PUR filters.

    I love this pitcher for the taste of the filtered water. It fits a lot of water in the fridge and looks nice. After a year of use, the pitcher started to leak. Not worth your money, but something that will last longer.

    I like this pur pitcher, but I dislike the locking tab design. The white and blue tabs! The lid removal should be simple, especially for elderly people. The filter light change should be simple too! Luckily, I'm able to help my grandpa!

    I bought two of these pitchers. The first couple of weeks they were fine, other than the fact that the button to open the top often got stuck and they were hard to open. After just 2 months BOTH units got a crack on the seam (same spot on both pitchers) and they just slowly leaked water all over my counter. I reached out to the company (four times!) because they had a three month warranty. The company NEVER even bothered to respond to me. It’s a terrible product that malfunctions, created by a terrible company that clearly doesn’t stand behind their product .

    I bought this pitcher less than a year ago. Somehow, it has gotten a crack and leaks. Also, when pouring, the water pours very slowly.

    The button on the top stopped working and we have to open with a knife to fill it. The spout doesn't pour at all and you have to wedge something into the gap by the handle to allow air to flow so it will begin pouring. Flawed design. Do Not Buy

    The flip lid for this pitcher is intended to pop open with pressure applied from your thumb. If pressing this button is not releasing the flip lid, we would recommend you slide your thumb forward in the finger hole toward the front of the pitcher rather than centering it in the finger hole.     Hi, I had really enjoyed this pitcher; however, while just simply trying to dry the pitcher after cleaning it before replacing a new filter the handle completely cracked off. I wish I would've read the reviews before hand. I am unfortunately dissapointed in the unexpected break and how easily it broke.

    While it can be fairly slow to filter, I generally enjoyed cold water from the fridge over water that I'd need to collect, then cool. The first filter leaked for months before I figured out why I kept finding puddles in my refrigerator. Mini cracks formed on the bottom, outer edge of the pitcher. I replaced it with another. This time, instead of months of mystery water after a good run, it was a couple of weeks. Again, tiny cracks formed about the bottom, likely from just missing the shelf and tapping it when putting in the refrigerator. I really need to follow up on the warranty. Two leaky pitchers in less than year is just unacceptable. Avoid. Who has the wherewithal to baby a water pitcher? I certainly don't.

    Half the pitchers in the store were cracked. Should have been a red flag but I figured maybe someone dropped the pallet they were on or something. Nope, a month after buying mine is cracked and unusable. Made a giant mess all over our counter. We are gentle with it too. Just made poorly.

    Worst Pur Pitcher Ever

    I've had many Pur pitchers over the course of many years and loved them all, until this one. Wow, what a horrible design. TIt surel was a prettier style in the pictures. But the lid will not fit flat and snug no matter what you do. The filter change indicator does not work. The button to press and make the fill lid open up has never worked and it's hard to pry it up. The base cracked and leaked after just a few months. There is nothing I liked about this pitcher other than the larger capacity and slightly different shape and style. The filters produce great-tasting water as always, but you couldn't give me another one of these pitchers. Big waste of very hard-earned dollars for this senior disabled lady on low fixed income.

    I find it to be a little cumbersome in the refrigerator. After you pour the water in, it takes a while for it to go through. It seems like I always need to replace the filter. I bought it to save me money on not buying spring water for my coffee. I am not so sure if it is saving me money or just better for the recycling of plastic?

    Read the reviews!! I wish I would have because they are all the exact same things i experienced; the spout doesn’t work properly, it cracks at the bottom and leaks everywhere! I’m going to attempt to see if target will let me return this because I am beyond disappointed why would something so expensive be so crappily made.

    Defective Design!

    Terrible design that clearly did not get properly tested before mass production. The only way to get water to flow before your hair turns grey is to physically push the lid tighter to the pitcher, toward the spout area, while you tilt and pour. Its ridiculous. The bottom cracked after a month! At least the filtered water tasted fine.

    Returned our first one and the replacement has the same exact issues. Does not pour correctly and soemtimes not at all. you should not have to shake the filter and wipe up spilled the spill to get water to come out. after a few weeks both pitchers leak from the bottom. Leaves a small pool of water on the counter overnight. i agree with other reviews that it takes a long time to filter the water, but it is filtering many more contaminants that most filter, so this was expected. wrote to the company to see if they can send a replacement that will not leak and actually pours water.

    The pitcher kept cracking towards the bottom and all the water would come out. I purchased 4 in total and they were all faulty after a couple months. Sent multiple emails to PUR support and never heard back. I ended up returning it and purchased a Brita instead.

    Horrible design. The water glugs out of the pitcher inconsistently so it splashes everywhere, and you have to manually open and close the little flap for water to even come out. It also filters ridiculously slowly. This thing was a huge waste of money.
