Q: What is the backboard frame made of? I see the backboard is Acrylic fusion, but what is the frame itself?

submitted by Kim - 9 months ago
  • A: Hello, thank you for asking. The backboard material itself is Polycarbonate, or Acrylic. The frame is constructed of High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) which is a strong Resin material.

Q: Exactly how do you adjust it?

submitted by Wendy - 3 years ago
  • A: This system is adjusted by tipping the system forward and removing the pin from the pole. Slide pole to desired height and reinsert pin. Here is video that may help: https://youtu.be/DkGwUq0s6k4

Q: In the base, can you use water or sand? What's recommended? i read somewhere that water was okay, but I believe the instructions said sand.

submitted by u2isthebestband - 5 years ago
  • A: You can use either, but sand is the best option as water can leak out or evaporate over time.

Q: Can the hoop be taken apart after you assemble it?

submitted by TenCent - 5 years ago
  • A: Yes there is a way to take it apart. The tricky part is getting the pole apart after they are seated. But, there is a way to get the poles apart. There is a youtube video to assist with this: Lifetime Drop Method.

Q: Can this hoop easily be moved in and out of the garage? Our HOA doesn't allow portable hoops to stay outside

submitted by Amyp - 5 years ago
  • A: Yes! There are built-in wheels on the base that make the system easy to move when needed. Just tip the system and roll it where needed.

really nice basketball hoop. Perfect size for my kids. Horrible instructions . Very hard to understand. After we banged the poles we noticed it was done wrong and it's irreversible now. I don't want to have to pay for a pole.

We apologize about the frustration with the assembly of your new basketball hoop. We do have one way that we have found to get those poles separated. Here is a video that walks you through it - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6WNdppuh7F8. Hopefully this helps. If you have any further questions, please reach out to us at reviews@lifetime.com.

Outstanding customer service for spare parts

Due to receiving the item as a gift not all parts were contained within the package we received (perhaps they were lost in transit somehow). This was certainly not the fault of lifetime, however the company were still able to provide the missing parts so I can now finish it for my son, and we are all very very happy. Very quick and professional response from lifetime. Would highly recommend for the customer service

Horrible assembly instructions

Impossible to put together. There are no written step by step instructions, just the most poorly drawn diagrams one can imagine. The person I asked to help was dumbfounded by the quality of the "instructions". It will cost as much to assemble as is did to purchase.

Robust product and great aftercare

I wanted a full size basketball hoop for my three boys and after a bit of research it was clear that Lifetime had well respected products. When the set arrived I rushed the process and got one of the poles locked in the wrong position. After contacting customer service I got a prompt response, advising me as to how I should separate the poles. Whilst ultimately successful, a pole was damaged and once again customer service was excellent as the US team arranged for a replacement to be sent to the UK. Having now erected the kit it seems very solid and I was quick to offer my thanks once again to the team. Great company.

Don’t buy, worse instructions EVER!!!

What a piece of crap, the instructions are limited, the YouTube video assumes you know what price is what & im told to put a certain screw in that I don’t have. Buy a more reputable brand by someone who knows how to write instructions. Ruined my son’s Christmas & now we have a scratched pole as I had to take it apart to fix it properly

I purchased this hoop for my ten year old nephew. Before buying this model, I spoke with a representative who was informative, friendly and professional, which helped with my decision. The basketball hoop is high quality and well made. It was easy to assemble and the directions are easily understood.

I would not recommend this basketball hoop. When my product arrived we were missing 1/2 the pieces to assemble it. Lifetime was quick to send the missing parts. Once put together my son (14) played on it for less than an hour before the bolts came all the way through the backboard. I called again and they sent me another backboard. I am only giving this hoop a 2/5 star rating because Lifetime tried to make it right. But overall quality and value are very poor!

WHO DESIGNED THE INSTRUCTIONS? !!!

I bought this on 3/28/2020 and it took me and my father in law over three hours to put together.....the instructions don’t make any sense at all and I can’t recall how many I had to go back and unscrew something because of unclear instructions. For future reference, how about putting all the parts you are going to need in a specific step in the same numbered bag (like lego’s do), that way we don’t have to go through three separate bags to find the correct part for a specific step....otherwise, so far the kids love it. It keeps them active in the backyard during this quarantine period !!!

I bought this a couple of weeks ago. I always complain, because the majority of the companies do not have good assembly instructions included, but these were wonderful. I would recommend reading all of them first, though. I didn't do that and I messed up. Not only is the Lifetime product perfect for us, but they, also, have one of the nicest, most helpful customer service departments I've ever dealt with!

poor craftsmanship

We bought this a few months ago. About 3 months into it, the back panel screw holes broke and the support bracket is no longer holding the back panel. To have the support brackets screw into PLASTIC is pretty unreasonably cheap -- the ball constantly hits the backboard and will obviously weaken the plastic and the bolts will pop off. For this to last only a few months is pretty sad. It was not weather beaten, either.

It definitely takes two people to make this. I thought the instructions could of been more detailed to save time. The very last bolt and nut I gave up trying to fix together as it was impossible to line up internally within the main post. I used my own nut and bolt to complete the task. But cost of the item was so cheap it was worth the effort at 1/3 rd of the cost of its nearest rival I could find. If your not good at building packed items get someone who is with this.
