Q: the descriptions says they are stainless steel - are they coated with something? What material is used in the coating to make them black?

A: This answer can't be right...Bc they are 100% coated and the coating comes off after the first use. Terrible.

A: Mine didn't even hold up to hand washing, so I would say no. Also, if I put these in my dishwasher, the flaking off paint would clog it. So don't recommend even buying these.

Initially I was worried the black would fade if our into the dishwasher, so I started off hand washing. Then reality set in and I told myself if they were meant to be, they'd survive the dishwasher lol I've had them now for a few months and they show no sign of fading which is great. I love how heavy they feel.

A few years ago a friend registered for these as a gift, and I bought a set myself. I recently bought another set for someone who registered for them. I love the look, I put command hooks on the inside of a cabinet door and hung them (they clank if we open the door too hard or fast, but doesn’t bother us). I don’t care for the fact that they get scratched. Our kids sometimes use metal spoons or forks to scrape the bottom and so we have scratches. But overall, good quality.

The worst measuring cups. I’ve owned mine for 2 years. All but one of the handles have broken off, 80% of the paint is chipped. Do yourself a favor and get a nice stainless set because, these are terrible. (Ps this is from normal daily use, nothing excessively rough and I hand wash everything)

I loved these at first. How can you not?! They’re so cute! But after 6 months, the black coating started coming off. I thought it might be from the dishwasher so I started washing by hand but it kept happening. Very disappointing. I will be buying stainless steel from now on.
