MEGA Hot Wheels 63 Corvette Grand Sport Race Car Building Toy Kit (1060 Pieces) for Collectors

One of my favorite builds!

My first major build. I gave it 5 stars to offset the one star. The directions are printed very dark and sometimes hard to find parts. Lego sets give you a 1:1 size picture to help you find the right part. Its a fun build and great looking piece, with a lot of unique parts. Lego cars look blocky. But have better directions. It took me 3-4 days ,2-3 hours each day to complete the 63 vette and it looks great!! I also liked that the mega has printed parts instead of Legos with stickers , which are a pain to put on.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got this block set as a gift for the holidays. I started working on it and noticed a few things out of the ordinary. The colored areas to guide the builder on where to place blocks, and the amount of force needed to put the blocks together. It made me wonder. A couple days later, I decided to try to use the online builder. So I went to this site and only found a review, but not the builder. Not an issue, but still would like to get away from the booklet. Not to mention, I didn't realize this wasn't a lego set until I took a closer look. It's MEGA! Who would have known! Great block set so far (only on page 79) and I like the fact that it take a little more force. Seome LEGO sets (specifically the Champion ones) have issues staying together and fall apart with too much force in the wrong area. Also, there are a lot more left over peices which can be good for those that loose a lot of peices! I will be on the lookout for other sets in the future! Absolutely not happy with this kit. The directions are ridiculous. There are no good instructions, just a low resolution picture of what they want you to do with a tiny piece of blue or grey plastic. None of the pieces are labeled. They are packed I’d the appropriate bag (kind of). I have spent several hours back tracking to find out why a certain piece does not fit. It is not a LEGO kit. It is a lot of random pieces stacked on top of a lot of other random pieces. It jumps around so you will have no idea what you are building will look like while you are building it. Suddenly you will build something that has nothing to do with the last thing you were building. I am done with it. I’m chucking it out!!!

I bought this set a couple months back and I really dig this set. Smooth design, groovy interiors and a few fun play features on this set. The buildable display case for the diecast version is pretty awesome too. My only complaint is that the side exhaust pipes pops off way too easily.

I found the kit to be pretty interesting and fun to build. The problem I had is with the hinges on the hood and doors. The hood hinges work pretty well but the hinges on the doors are impossible to attach to the doors and the car at the same time. And even if you can get them to attach there isn't room to allow doors to swing open. Poor design
