I REALLY wanted to love this. we used to have the blue Melissa and Doug mailbox and it was fun but it wasn't great for imaginative play letter writing, and this one seemed perfect! and the mailbox totally is! but the letter writing stuff is more or less garbage. the erasable crayons don't really erase and the reusable letters get kind of trashed as soon as somebody draws on them. but it is a fun little toy for hiding secret notes, etc.
great, sturdy mailbox

Worse Melissa and Doug toy I ever purchased. Stickers won’t stay on, crayons fell out of holders, and mailbox hard to open. Very poorly designed and quality.

This is a great toy to encourage early writing skills. My child and I enjoyed leaving notes for each other in the mailbox, and over time I could see her notes evolve from scribbles to words! Also fun way to leave a treat to surprise kids with. I'm buying another for my younger child.

Got this for my 3-year-old daughter a few months ago because she always loves pretending to write letters and would stick them in all kinds of silly "mailbox" places. She likes having her own mailbox and putting mail (and other things) in it. We enjoy the postcard face picture and putting things in the envelopes, so there are lots of nice things about this. That said, I'm so disappointed in the crayons that come with the set. The plastic holders are unusable (the crayons slide in and out of them too easily and jiggle around inside them), the crayons themselves are fat and soft so it's impossible to write nicely with them, and they run out quickly while the only refills available come with more plastic holders (what a waste!). It says not to use whiteboard markers to write on the notes, but I think I'm going to switch to them anyway becaus the crayons are so bad. Too bad that such an otherwise nice product is essentially ruined by the awful choice of writing utensil.

When I was younger, I loved playing with this and writing little notes to my parents. Sometimes I used to put M&Ms in it because my dad loved them.

I thought this product for a Special child that received a school house shed from a charitable organization. I wanted the mailbox so that she could open it and find a letter dedicating the shed to her. I tried using the enclosed crayons to create a post card for her using the cards that came with the mailbox however the crayons did not work. They were worthless. While the mailbox is adorable I was disappointed with the other supplies that came with it
My grand daughter enjoys the mailbox, would like new letters

My niece absolutely loves this! I got it for her for her 3rd birthday. She's having such a blast "writing letters" to all her friends and family members, which is particularly lovely since we're on different coasts. I couldn't recommend this more highly!
A great role play tool and fun to boot!

My daughter loves it! She is three and always writing letters to family and friends. I picked this up to scaffold upon what she was already doing. It was a great addition to teach her new found interest. Pen Pal-er in the making!

I love the mail box. it is also for a grandson that will be three years old. It is for his birthday and his 3 older brothers will put notes in it. They have a beach house he can change #'s I don't know how many letters are included but this can also be a learning tool. kcm
