[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I picked up this router a few years ago during one of the buy a tool get a tool promos. I’d always assumed trim routers were too underpowered for the type of work I usually do but I find myself using it more than the other 3 because it’s so easy to set up quickly. At first I just used it to throw an edge on something but over time I found it useful to make minor corrections like shaving off the end of a board or squaring up a crosscut. The depth adjustment is smooth, it’s well balanced with the battery on, the dual power buttons are right where you need them, the light may be the most useful of any router of this type, and the dust collection is outstanding. I really appreciate the little details they thought of like automatically shutting down when not in use to save the battery. I thought I would have run into something I don’t like about this router by now but I have no complaints.

If you need a trim router or want to replace a corded one, run, do not hesitate to purchase this little beauty. I would have gladly paid considerably more for the power, ease of use, and ability to use both 18V and 36MV batteries. As with all Metabo HPT tools, the ergonomics and value cannot be matched. This is, by far, the best cordless trim router on the market.
Good router.

I’ve used this router for lots of edge rounding tasks. It’s so nice to reach for a small, lightweight cordless tool for a quick corner easing job. I really like the button layout. I usually grab it so my thumb hits the power button and my finger lands nicely on the “on/off” button. It took a bit of getting used to, but ultimately I like the button layout of the metabo hpt more than the others I’ve tried, Power wise, it’s great. Just understand that it’s a small tool. Even the manual tells you not to take more than 3/16” of a cut at a time. Overall I love it. It’s so small, light and convenient that I find myself easing edges on things that I would’ve ignored before.
Great trim router with plenty of power

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got this as a grab and go solution to compliment my full sized router, but it has become the one I go to the most. It is super simple to use and I have not had a job yet that it could now power through. Overall quite pleased!

I don't own one of these but I've used one several times & it's a nice router. It's very smooth to operate. It is just a hair under powered in harder wood but not enough for a deal breaker.
Works Great!

I was hesitant at getting this trim router at first because I only have the 36v batteries and I was concerned that it would be too big because of it. And I'm thinking that I may not need the 36v plunge router because I would probably only do very little to occasional routing jobs (plus it costs more and not available at my local retailer at the time). I'm glad I chose the trim router though, because the form factor made it easy to hold, control and store in my small garage workshop. I'm not sure if the 36v batteries have anything to do with it, but paired with it sure makes it powerful enough to accomplish anything I've thrown at it. To be honest, I've mostly only done 1/2 inch and 5/8 dados than actual routing edges with this router and it has done those effortlessly. The vibration isn't as bad as some of my detail sanders. The clear base makes it pretty easy to see under it, specially with the light. And although the router itself hasn't failed me, I do suggest getting high quality bits. If I had to list some things that could be improved upon, I have a couple of things I wish it had or change a bit. First I think having accessories like a plunge base or a two handed fixed base you can swap would be so great. Perhaps I'm not used to it yet, but I keep mixing the buttons on which to press first and then second, but again maybe I'm just not used to the 2 button safety/operation control. I'm having a hard time finding a connector to connect with it's dust port, not sure if it's standard size, however I don't use the dust port that often so it's not such a big deal for me right now. Now that I think about it, getting this over the 36v plunge also gives me the option to get the more smaller 18v batteries for an even more compact setup. All and all I highly recommend this Metabo HPT trim router and avoid the generic bits that I unfortunately cheaped out on. Hahah.

I needed a cordless trim router for some time now. The Matabo just seemed like the natural choice after purchasing and using the 36V cordless plunge/fixed base router. This is really a sweet addition to my router collection. Plenty of power, feels good in the hands, and was sold at a really good price.
