Q: Does the storage compartment pull out or do you have to take the top of the bench off each time to retrieve items?

A: The bench seat is hinged, so it lifts up. It has a pneumatic bar so it doesn't slam, but closes slowly.

Overall I'm pleased with this storage bench. It seems like it will do a good job storing all the kids' backpacks and shoes for school. I would buy it again and recommend to a friend. To be fair, there were a couple of minor problems with the components and instructions that I should point out. 1) Instructions do not show some of the lid-lift hardware on the "included parts" page. Namely, the "rectangular fitting" and wood screws to mount it. 2) Missing one of the above mentioned wood screws. 3) Instructions do not list a philips screwdriver as one of the tools you'll need. 4) The pre-drilled holes on the underside of the lid, for mounting the "rectangular fitting" were pretty ugly, with splinters and scuffs. 5) The included wood screws were undersized in my opinion. I replaced them with a larger (diameter) screw.

I purchased 2 for both of my son’s room. It fits perfectly in their closet as a “hidden storage” for their costumes, face masks, nerf guns, etc. (it holds a lot trust me.) My husband had no issues putting them together and they both are working perfectly fine.

I bought this to hold shoes on our sunporch. We got a new puppy that likes to chew shoes left out and this was the perfect easy solution that she cannot access. The lid can be left propped open too, which is fabulous for grabbing your shoes one handed. It’s sturdy and I was surprised by the quality.

Metal Storage Bench by Brightroom™ is very nice! This storage bench has super easy to read and follow directions on how to safely set this bench up. It is very easy to set up and it’s fairly lightweight for easy moving around. Yet it is very durable to be sat on! I can fit quite a bit into it and it makes for a very nice storage area without sacrificing my home’s fashion. I would highly recommend!

This storage solution was a little difficult to assemble. A few of the holes didn’t line up properly. It also arrived with a dent in one of the pieces. After assembly, it is a good storage unit. It has soft close hinges which made it noiseless and more safe for use. I like that the mesh makes the body see through as to not lose items in storing them inside. Also, because it has a modern industrial look, it’s perfect for the garage or as a neutral addition to any room. Overall a good find!

This storage bench combines the industrial-like style with black metal frame and wooden top. The lift-up lid has a spacious storage area below it, which is perfect for keeping essentials like blankets, toys or sports equipment. The mesh sides allow visibility of the contents in a glance which is nice. It’s multifunctional and offers both seating and storage. The lift-top mechanism works smoothly and feels secure too. The mesh sides could have been more durable but they seem okay as of now. The assembly instructions could be clearer and have better instructions but everything fit fine and there were no issues with pieces lining up.

Struggled a little bit with the assembly. The trick is to put the screws in halfway so that you can align the holes properly. The instruction booklet could be a little better, but the parts are labeled so the first half assembly went well. Once assembled, it looks nice, and it is spacious to hold a lot of things. This is great not just for sports equipment but for shoes and outdoor flipflops as well. The quality is good and it's good to sit on as well. It just makes some noise when things are put on top because of the hollow area underneath.

I was gifted this product in exchange for my honest review and I am so happy to receive it. This product is amazing. It is very sturdy and well made. I did have a little bit of a struggle putting it together but finally was able to. The product is very cute and convenient. I definitely would recommend this item.

Im very impressed with the storage bench with a lift top. It looks amazing, the hardware is solid, and the interior space can provide me with plenty of space to store anything from bedding, shoes, pillows, creation props, etc. Assembly is very easy, with all parts clearly labeled, which minimized confusion. There were extra screws included.

I was looking for some kind of storage for my son’s hoodies and this is perfect. He has a sports themed room so this fits perfectly. We did have an issue with lining up the holes on the lid with the screws but we were able to make it work.

Very nice storage bench. It’s heavy duty and extremely durable and the wood on top is a nice touch for the overall aesthetic. It is packaged well and no pieces were damaged. I was able to assemble this by myself and it took me about 25 minutes. The pieces are lettered on the individual wrap packaging but no two pieces are identical so it’s easy to tell which one is which when assembling. The hardware you need is all included and there is a bag labeled as additional hardware if any parts are lost. The bench is held together with allen bolts. When installing the back and front parts it was easier to perfectly line up the holes by doing the bottom bolts on both sides first before the top bolts. There is a gas spring strut to help keep the lid from falling shut when opened as it is heavy wood. The weight limit for the lid is 200 lbs. This is perfect in our garage and roomy enough to hold my son’s sports equipment and some other random items. Overall a very high quality, durable and beautiful storage bench!

Bought two of these. The first one went together very easily. The second one had some serious issues. The back panel had holes that wouldn’t line up with the sides, and even if they had, the bolts wouldn’t screw into the holes.

This was very easy to put together. Instructions state that you need 2 people, but I had no issues doing it by myself. I did use a rubber mallet to gently tap the sides to get the holes to line up, but no different than other knock-down furniture. I have it in my garage to hold my garden clothes & I use the bench to put on my garden shoes.
