Monoprice Blackbird 4K HDMI Matrix, 4x2, HDR, 18G, 4K@60Hz, YCbCr 4:4:4, EDID, Coaxial Audio, Powered Switch, Control Remote

It took a while to test it. I had a similar one before and it had problems. This Blackbird 4X2 Matrix works flawlessly, and the way I want it to.

I have a 65" OLED and a 120" UST Projector This device allows me to connect all my sources and output to the screen I want to use (love it!) I recently got a Samsung Q990C soundbar and realized this device will not support e-Arc output to it. Really sad. I hope they will bring out a firmware update to support e-arc

Have it hook up to my Xbox series X and PS4 pro. Able to get 5.1 audio for my audio through fiber optics. Very good product and performance.

This low quality box doesn't work. Don't expect this to output 4k hdr from Xbox series X, most of the time it just black screens. Tried multiple 1080p and 4k sources. Requires 2 devices to be ON at the same time to get signal or else it won't output anything

Finally found something that works for my situation: One X, PS4 Slim, and Switch, going to E9 OLED TV and gaming monitor. The One X is beautifully shown on the TV, at a crisp 4K resolution and a lively 60 fps, with HDR enabled. The only issue is that the PS4 was unable to do HDR via the matrix for some odd reason.

Works well. I really like the fact that you can manually select the input for each output and there is a clear (if a bit bright) visual indicator light for each. Only downside is when connecting two TVs, you will only be able to select the lowest common resolution. So if you connect a 4k TV and a 1080p TV you can only output 1080p to the 4k TV. This is true even if the lower resolution TV is off. Disconnecting the lower resolution TV?s HDMI cable would be required to get access to the 4k signal.

I have an Insight LED TV with two HDMI ports. One is an HDMI ARC connected to a Vizio soundbar HDMI port. The other HDMI port is for this powered switch. By setting this up in this fashion, I am now able to add four additional devices to the Insight TV and have all the audio coming out of the Soundbar. I did not have to use the optical port on this HDMI matrix switch. Instead I am getting much better audio via the HDMI ARC connection

Advertised as HDMI 2.0b, yet it can't handle 4K 60hz HDR from PS5 or Xbox One X.

This switch is amazing. I've purchased many cheap switches claiming to be 4K/60Hz/HDR and generally had issues with dropped signal or no signal at all. So far, none of those issues. I did have one issue with my HDR which I feel could happen to someone else. Regarding HDR: TL/DR : Both displays plugged into the Switch MUST support HDR or HDR is blocked entirely. Even if the non HDR display isn't being used it will cause it to be block on the HDR display. Long version with context: I ran into an issue with HDR. I had my XBOX Series X and PS5 hooked up to this switch. Then going to my (a)4K HDR Monitor and my (b)4K HDR TV. For some reason my XBOX and PS5 were saying my display was not HDR compatible. This would happen when I had it only going to my Monitor or only going to my TV. What I found out was when using this Switch the source device will check the compatibility of BOTH displays even if you're not currently outputting to it. For some reason with the Switch in the loop my TV was defaulting my HDMI input to HDMI 1.4 instead of HDMI 2.0, which 1.4 does not support 4K HDR. So I changed my TV settings to force my TV input to always use HDMI 2.0 and boom, problem solved. So, please be advised. BOTH displays must support HDR in order to output HDR at all. Even if you're not using the non HDR display the Switch will constantly monitor and relay that info to the source and block it entirely.

Unit seemed to be working for 15 or 20 minutes, but when I tried changing the edid mode from auto to copy, the picture cut out coming from my PC. I tinkered with it for about 3 hours, obviously i tried setting it back to auto, and no combination of settings, switches, cables or power cycles, ever produced a picture from my PC again. The xbox series x would produce a picture (sometimes), but only in 1080p mode, no matter if downscaling was turned on or off. We shall see how the return process goes...

This is far superior to the equipment I was using. Picture is better and functionality is better.

I needed a solution to display my PC & media player to both my 4K TV & 4K projector without having to keep switching cables. One option was a new receiver with dual HDMI output but those started at around $500, and I already have a soundbar hooked up. This was a much cheaper alternative to buying a new receiver with dual HDMI outputs. I was able to have all my equipment successfully connect to my 4K TV & 4K Projector and it works as advertised. As a bonus I was able to connect my headphones to the Optical output for nightime viewing. Would definitely reccomend.

I’m very pleased with the performance, footprint and functionality of the Blackbird 4K HDMI 4x2, HDR Matrix as well as Moonprice's great, responsive service.

This unit is surpringly small and thin. Working well so far. The 4K->1080P button seems to be useless. If one of the outputs is connected to a 1080 TV, it scales down BOTH outputs to 1080, even if this button is not on. I knew from the web site it couldn't output both formats, but I was hoping this was a new feature, but not so much. The unit is not in the Logitech database for my Harmony Hub universal remote, and when I asked Monoprice support about it I was told this unit is not recommended for universal remotes since they don't have the codes. Ummm, what? I was able to Teach the commands to my the unit fine, but it literally took hours to teach the commands to the hub. For the hub to recognize a command I would have to press the button sometimes 50-100 times, and then it still wouldn't work. Especially the power button. I even tried a new battery. Finally got them all taught and it's working well. No picture issues.

I could not be happier with my product choice,It does what it was design to do. I hope to purchase more products in the near future.

I have been using the unit daily for about a month and it's been working perfectly. My configuration consists of 1080p and 4K displays for outputs and a PS4, Xbox One and PC as inputs. This switch allows for seamless mapping from any input to any output and thanks to the integrated downscaler, I do not need to change any display settings when going from the 4K to 1080p display and vice versa; I leave all of the inputs configured for 4K output. I have not noticed any additional input lag caused by using the switch with the downscaler enabled compared to a direct connection to the display; having said that, my displays are only running at 60Hz. There are a few things to be aware of with the downscaler: - The downscaler cannot handle variable refresh rates, be sure to disable "Variable Refresh Rate" if connecting an Xbox One otherwise you will see heavy flickering and intermittent signal loss. Interestingly, the PC (running a 5700XT) doesn't even detect the switch as a VRR capable device. - The downscaler cannot properly handle HDR signals. If the input 4K signal is in HDR, the resulting 1080p image from the downscaler will have wrong colors. A few minor nitpicks: - The power cable is on the short side; it's a decent amount shorter than the Xbox One's power cable for comparison - The blue LEDs on the front of the unit are quite bright in a dark room; not a big deal I just put some tape over them to help diffuse the lights
