About the Book
In 1910, Effie joins forces with an English newcomer to discover what lies behind the doors of the abandoned house on Predicament Avenue. In the present day, Norah reluctantly inherits the house turned bed and breakfast, where her first guest, a crime historian and podcaster, is set on uncovering the truth about what haunts this place. From the Back Cover
As the walls of the house at Predicament Avenue reveal their hidden truths, two women--generations apart--discover that fear and foreboding are no respecters of time.In 1910, Effie James is committed to doing anything to save her younger sister, who witnessed a shocking murder, leaving her mute and in danger of the killer's retribution. Effie must prove what her sister saw, but when a British gentleman arrives, he disrupts Effie's quest with his attempts to locate his wife, Isabelle Addington, who was last seen at the supposed crime scene in the abandoned house at 322 Predicament Avenue. Just as Effie discovers what she seeks, she finds that the blood staining the walls will forever link her to a scandal she couldn't imagine, and to a woman whose secrets promise to curse any who would expose them.
A century later, Norah Richman grapples with social anxiety and grief as she runs her late great-aunt's bed-and-breakfast on Predicament Avenue. But Norah has little affection for the house and is committed only to carrying out her murdered sister's dreams until crime historian and podcaster Sebastian Blaine arrives to investigate the ghostly legacy of the house's claim to fame--the murder of Isabelle Addington. When a guest is found dead, the incident is linked to Isabelle's murder, and Norah and Sebastian must work together to uncover the century-old curse that has wrapped 322 Predicament Avenue in its clutches and threatens far more than death.

I am a huge Jaime Jo Wright fan. I know if I want a story that will keep me guessing until the very end to read her books. I don't know another author who keeps me invested in both timelines like she does! Night Falls on Predicament Avenue checked every box. In the present timeline, Norah has taken over her deceased twin sister's dream of running the bed-and-breakfast on Predicament Avenue. She is still struggling with the grief of her loss when podcaster Sebastian Blaine comes to town and starts stirring everything up. In the past, Effie and her sister Polly are being childish when Polly witnesses a murder. The events that happen after that give a shocking glimpse of how crimes were handled in the early 1900s. There is so much to the story! As I mentioned earlier, I was equally invested in both timelines and couldn't get enough of either story. I was SHOCKED by one revelation and suspicious in the other timeline. Usually, when I finish a book, I move on pretty quickly but having finished this one over 24 hours ago, it is still with me. I woke up in the middle of the night and I was still mulling it over. Night Falls on Predicament Avenue is one of my favorites by Wright. While this book has themes of fear and grief, it is not too heavy, it is exceptionally well-written. Other words I would use to describe the book: captivating, haunting, chilling, meaningful, and addictive. Even those descriptors don't completely capture the essence of the story. Thank you to Bethany House Publishers for the opportunity to read this book. I was not required to provide a positive review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

"Night Falls on Predicament Avenue" weaves a tale that skillfully navigates the complex labyrinth of human emotions. It is a masterfully written story of overcoming fear, facing grief, and finding hope. I kept urging myself to slow down, to savor each moment, yet I was simultaneously eager to uncover the unfolding mysteries. It's the hallmark of a narrative so compelling and characters so real that they linger in your thoughts long after the last page has been turned. "Night Falls on Predicament Avenue" offers an amazing blend of storytelling that both captivates and enlightens, making it a must-read for those in search of depth and meaning beyond the surface.

Loved the ghostly vibes and the mysterious POV known as โHer.โ I could totally relate to the anxiety and claustrophobia one character experiences. Fear is a major theme threaded throughout but never without hints of grace and hope. I thought it was super fun how both timelines included guys from England who played roles in the areas of crime-solving and romance. ************************** ๐๐๐๐ฅ๐๐๐ง๐ ๐๐ค๐ฌ๐ ๐ญ๐ต๐ฌ๐ญ A rite-of-passage moment for two sisters goes terribly wrong when one of them witnesses a murder in the abandoned house at 322 Predicament Avenue. ๐๐๐๐ฅ๐๐๐ง๐ ๐๐ค๐ฌ๐ ๐๐ง๐๐จ๐๐ฃ๐ฉ ๐ฟ๐๐ฎ Norah Richman inherited the house at 322 Predicament Avenue and reluctantly runs a bed and breakfast there. This is the eleventh Jaime Jo Wright book that I have read, and it is my very favorite! Both the 1901 tale and the present day tale get five stars for eeriness and suspense. They are filled with things that go bump in the night, dark secrets, unsolved murder, and fear. One would definitely have to think about the wisdom of reading this book late into the night. While Jaime Jo Wright always serves up a wonderfully spooky story, she also provides fodder for thought at a deeper level. In this novel it is on the theme of fear, not the type of fear her stories ignite, but the fear associated with death, and with living, fear that can cripple. I truly appreciate Wright's mastery of blending entertainment and life changing messages, but if you are in it just for the entertainment, don't worry, the message won't bog you down. I am grateful to have received a complimentary copy and plan on purchasing a copy for my husband. Bethany House provided my complimentary copy via NetGalley without obligation. All opinions expressed here are my own.

In Night Falls on Predicament Avenue, Jaime Jo Wright does what she does bestโpens an emotive, mesmerizing dual-timeline suspense that intertwines around a creepy, old house on Predicament Avenue. Two young women a century apart, struggle with a myriad of emotions including social anxiety, fear, and griefโas they investigate two unsolved murders involving 322 Predicament Avenue. There were so many twists and turns, I got dizzy! . . . and good luck figuring out who the perpetrators are. I read so many suspense novels I'm usually close to guessing the who-dun-its, but this timeโnot. even. close. This book is a fairly dark, poignant read, with a smidgen of romance and a HEAโand as always the author includes the path to redemption and deliverance through faith in God. *I received a complimentary ARC from the publisher and was under no obligation to write a favorable review.*
Surrender to hope instead.

Death had been a guest at Predicament Avenue for decades, and it was clear that Death wasnโt ready to check out quite yet. Effie (1901) and her sister Polly believe they heard someone being murdered. Did they or was it just part of being at the forsaken house on Predicament Ave. in the dark? There is someone missing thoughโฆ. Norah (present day) and her sister Naomi inherited the renovated Predicament Ave. and started a B&B. However, murder seems to have returned when Naomiโs body is found. Could there be a connection? This book is sure to keep you guessing, trying to figure out who and why these murders were committed. There is an overarching theme of fear for all of the wonderfully developed characters - each one fearing something different. Is it possible that hope will win out? This ARC was received through Bethany House Publishers, Baker Publishing Group, NetGalley and CelebrateLit. The impressions given are my own and were in no way solicited.
