I was a little hesitant as I like the whimsy of fake flames - particularly those that flicker too. This one doesn't have a proper "flicker" effect but its affordable and simple to use. I didn't think about how soft the light is, so it's a nice way to go about the house at night without a blinding phone light. I bought it for my own whimsy, but I may buy another because I think my child enjoys using it as well.
