The NYX Shine Killer? It’s like the friend who promises to handle your oily face but kinda ghosts you after a few hours. It does keep the shine in check—at first—but don’t expect it to last all day. It’s light, it’s smooth, but by midday, you’re definitely gonna need a touch-up. Not bad for the price, but don’t expect miracles.

Was really hoping this would keep me matte, but it didn’t do much. I still got shiny pretty quickly and had to blot a lot. It just didn’t live up to the hype for me.

This product works wonders! It has no scent, so that's a plus, and it makes your skin shine free. It comes out black, but when you rub it into your skin, it blends right in!!!!! The price is good and its well worth the money. A little goes a long way.

I have combination-to-oily skin, so I’m always on the lookout for a good mattifying primer—and NYX Shine Killer didn’t disappoint! It has a lightweight, gel-like texture that goes on smoothly and absorbs quickly. I noticed my makeup applied more evenly and stayed put longer throughout the day. The mattifying effect lasted about 4–5 hours before I started to get a bit shiny, but it still looked more controlled than usual. I love that it’s infused with Vitamin E too—it feels gentle and not drying. It’s a great affordable option if you’re on a budget or just testing out shine-control primers. It may not hold up all day for super oily skin, but for everyday wear, it gets the job done! Would definitely recommend for combo or moderately oily skin types.

Horrible change to a once amazing product. The activated charcoal leaves residue on light skin and clothing even when blended “clear”. There is also a slight flashback in photos. I’m a makeup artist for production and have loved the original shine killer for years. Sadly, I used this updated product just once on set and it was absolutely awful. Why on earth did they change this!!!!!!!
