A: Hi! The OXO Softworks Butter Dish is completely Dishwasher safe. We do recommend top rack only and no high heat or sanitize cycles.

Q: Does the top of the butter dish lock onto the base or does it just cover the base?

A: Hello! Thanks for your question. The lid to the Butter Dish rests on the base, but does not lock into place. The stoppers for the butter allows the lid to stay in place and not slide around while transporting.

Wish this product would lock into place. You have to make sure you hold on to the top and bottom at the same time or the top falls off.
Like that it doesnt slide around. But it's not airtight.

I like that it has the lip on either side to keep the lid from sliding around, as well as the rubber on the bottom edges to keep it from slipping around on the counter. However it is not airtight… wish it was! I also wish there was a glass version. I’m trying to use less plastic.

My sister wanted a plastic butter dish like I had. I remembered I bought it at Target so I ordered her one. She loves it and it's not going to be easy to break. It's light weight and holds a stick of butter, you can cut off butter easier with the guides at the ends.

I like that it's high quality plastic so my kid can't break the dish but I can still keep a stick of butter on the counter so I can spread butter easily on toast etc. butter does not need to be refrigerated. it lasts a month on the counter at least. if you keep the butter dish in the fridge and have to move it out of the fridge every time you use it the lid will come off and you will drop the butter and you won't have a good time. but you are also doing it wrong so that's not the products fault.
