Q: the cold water has a soapy taste to it. we've run a few gallons of water through with no avail. any suggestions?

  • A: Hi Mo, thanks for reaching out. We would be happy to provide assistance with this issue. Primo recommends that you use the instructions below to dissolve mineral deposits, sanitize, and deodorize your dispenser every 3-4 months. Time Required: 30 minutes Need: (2) tablespoon regular bleach or (2) cups of distilled white vinegar, (1) Empty 5-gallon bottle, (1) 2-gallon bucket and a Phillips head screwdriver. Turn energy-saving switches to OFF. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet. Remove the water bottle. Move appliance away from the wall to gain access to the back. Remove remaining water from reservoirs by dispensing from the hot and cold taps into a pitcher or bucket. Remove the cap from a spare empty 5-gallon bottle. Pour the bleach (2 tbsp.) or vinegar (2 cups) and hot tap water (2 Gallons) into the empty bottle. Apply the cleaning bottle to the dispenser. Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet and turn the dispenser back on. Allow the cleaning solution to fill the reservoirs. Turn the switches back to off and unplug the power cord from the wall outlet. Wait 10 minutes then drain the water from the reservoirs as described in step 5. Rinse the bottle and fill with only hot tap water and apply it to the dispenser following (steps 8-9). Place a two-gallon bucket in the back of the appliance and remove the drain plug, while also flushing water through the taps (step 5). Replace the silicone plug and drain cap. Return the unit to its location, install a fresh water bottle, plug the power cord into the grounded wall outlet and turn the energy-saving switch ON. Q: Do any of your models have a higher clearance for some of the newer hiking or camping thermos bottles? The bottle for the soda stream are about 9in tall and you need to hold the bottle at an angle.

We recommend continuing to run hot tap water through the dispenser to ensure that any remaining presence of the cleaning solution has been removed from your dispenser. For reference, here are the steps we provide once applying the cleaning solution to the dispenser. Please be advised that you should be flushing the dispenser with about 2 gallons of hot water when flushing the cleaning solution out of the dispenser: Allow the cleaning solution to fill the reservoirs.  Wait 10 minutes then drain the water from the reservoirs as described in step 5.  Rinse the bottle and fill with only hot tap water and apply it to the dispenser.  Turn the power on the dispenser back off for this next step.  Place a two-gallon bucket in the back of the appliance and remove the drain plug, while also flushing water through the taps (step 5).  Replace the silicone plug and drain cap.  Return the unit to its location, install a freshwater bottle, plug the power cord into the grounded wall outlet and turn the energy saving switch ON.  If you need further assistance with this issue, please contact us at social@primowater.com

Then, plug the machine back on and turn on only the green switch. If you have not tried it, turn off switches on the back and unplug your machine(UNLESS YOU HAVE MODEL 601242 or 601264). While the machine is turned off , dispense about 4 cups of water from the cold dispenser. Then, plug the machine back on and turn on only the green switch. Allow one hour for the unit to cool the water before checking the temperature. If this doesn't fix the issue, please contact us at social@primowater.com

Our previous water dispenser died on us after many years of service. It was a top loader and although I can still lift the 5 gallon bottles, it was getting harder snd harder. I like the aesthetics of this all white dispenser…very clean looking. Sliding the bottle in to the bottom is easy and smooth as well as popping the water cap on. It will support either 5 or 3 gallon water bottles. It dispenses very cold and hot water. To get cold water, you simply tap the cold water icon and then hold down on the dispense icon. It has a fairly tall opening for your water bottle, glass or mug. For hot water, you have to hold the hot water icon and dispense icon simultaneously. I’m sure this is for the safety of children. It does make a slight hum when heating/cooling water after you fill a glass or mug but not too bothersome. I recommend this dispenser and am very happy with it. I hope this is helpful.

I thought hte design was beautiful, that's why I added it to my waiting room office. It leaked repeatedly. I contacted customer serivce, followed their YouTube tutorials (many other people are having this problem) but they couldn't fix it. Stay away from this brand!

Dangerous, extremely loud and poor quality

This dispenser started leaking scalding hot water after about a year of ownership and we have a baby in the house so had to get rid of it. We would come home to find the device leaking huge amounts of water from the nozzle. Their other dispensers have been recalled for this exact reason and for causing burns. It's also extremely loud at night. Make sure you don't buy from Primo. They make a very poor quality product.

it looks sooooo beautiful in my kitchen, and the bottom load is helpful on my back. it doesn't get very cold or very hot so that seemed weird given the price tag on this, I would have expected very chilled water and hot for tea, but it goes from warm to cool and that's about it.

It is easy to get fresh chilled or hot water for a cup of tea in an instant. It is very easy to change out the 5 gallon water jug and you can exchange for a brand new one at most local retailers or refill your old gallon.

I love that its bottom loading, so no weird juggling or lifting and balancing a heavy jug of water up top. They even thought to include a holder on the door for the dispenser to rest to keep it clean during water exchanges! The unit looks good in my home, and I love having nice clean water available at any time, and the convenience of it being able to choose to have it be cold, cool, or hot is very nice. The almost perfect comes into play with two minor gripes I have. The first being, I wish the opening was just a touch taller for tumblers, you can still fill them at an angle, but its not ideal. The second, is depending on what you're filling (apart from a smaller cup or bowl) it can be hard to see when its full as the unit casts a shadow in the dispensing area, and it would've been nice if there were one or two LED lights installed right there to illuminate it so you could see. All in all, I'm still happy with the unit, and I recommend it.
