After two uses, a stained mess with black burnt on stuff I can't get off Nothing like my 15 year old Calphalon Sautéuse that's thick, satiny stainless, so smooth and easy to clean, a joy to cook in. This 5qt pan is thinner, cheaply made, felt rough even before I used it . The sides have all these striations that catch/ hold and embed burned grease. . It looks unfinished or poor quality stainless, an alloy. It took an hour with Barkeepers Friend the first time to clean it. After 2nd use, black and brown stains I cant get rid of. I wanted it for searing meat, and it looks awful. All my other old stainless cleans up so easily, no scrubbing needed. This newer Calphalon is of inferior quality..

I've owned this pan for a couple of years now. While I love the steel and the size, I have to echo another review I saw on here about problems with the lid. Water and oil get trapped between the metal and the glass, and it's basically impossible to keep clean and dry.

I love the size of this pan. Its taken me a few tries to get used to cooking with stainless steel vs nonstick, but if you follow the directions on heating up the pan first, it works beautifully and cleans up perfectly.

I hesitated buying a stainless steel pan because other stainless steel pans that I’ve used in the past were so hard to clean because everything burned on it. I’m thinking they were low quality pans because this pan is wonderful! I’ve used it a few times now and everything cooks evenly & nothing has burned ! It is a tad heavy, but otherwise I’m very happy with my purchase.

It heats very evenly, which makes for food that looks great. It goes from stovetop to oven with no problem. Super easy to clean. It was heavier than expected, but that turned out to be a good thing. The high sides make cooking with liquids so much easier.

However, I am glad that we did. This pan is perfect for any stove type. It is solid, sleek and very good at distributing the heat. It also cleans very easily.
