A: I'll answer this again because its such a fail. If you place it on your nightstand, you need to face the clock away from you to see the projection in the correct orientation. If I am incorrect, please feel free to correct me.
submitted byWSilver - 4 years agoA: This is SO weak. If you are buying for the projection, don't bother. Its backwards. That is useless to me. This complaint is echoed numerous times. I can get the projection to be normal if I face the clock face away from me. But then I can see the clock face. Unless there is a way to switch the orientation of the projected time, which I haven't seen after a couple of hours of searching the web, you are adding ZERO value. My humble recommendation is do not buy this if you need the projection feature to be operationally useful.

When laying in bed, the projection will display the time correctly either directly above you or across the room if the projection arm is tilted. A: Well that sucks!! The light is way too bright to sleep with it on. I only paid 25 bucks or so, I’ll just buy a quality alarm clock with dim button!! Btw y’all, this sharp brand is not related to the renown Sharp brand we’re all familiar with. Also, quick fix for the bright none-dimmable light; just put a piece of cloth or washcloth on the clock face… the projection still works fine.

A: The projections does not require battery to function. For the projection to stay on long-term, the clock must be plugged in, and the projection button held down for 5 seconds. A: Yes, the projection is larger than the clock display. The farther away the surface you project on to, the larger the letters will appear. Please note, this works best in a dark or very dimly lit room.

The projection time doesn’t rotate. The only place this alarm clock can be placed, and not have the projection be upside down or sideways, is above the head of the bed. The clock has a very cheap feel to it, it should be a $10 clock not $25.

I just got this today. When I was setting it up, I was testing the projection and how loud the alarm was. Projection needs to be a little brighter. I think there was a little light coming in the room so the projection wasn't that clear on the wall. I think it'll be more visible at night. The alarm is just right. Not too loud or too low. Hopefully this clock lasts. I'm liking it so far.

If I could give this negative stars I would. It’s the dumbest thing that’s ever existed. Think Trump but even dumber. You can either see the clock or the projection but never both because the projection is always backwards if you see the clock.

Cannot see the display unless it’s on the floor. The anti glare or whatever feature makes it viewable ONLY from above.

Thank you for your review. This clock is a desktop clock, so it is supposed to be viewed from a sitting position when placed on a desk-height surface. If the backlight is too dim, make sure you are running the clock on outlet power and not battery power.

The biggest letdown is that the projected time cannot be rotated. Consequently it can NOT appear as shown on the Target site. That is, with the clock facing as shown the projected image will read upside down from right to left on the ceiling. Also consider the unadjustable brightness, fixed alarm volume, bogus Sharp branding and the $25 cost -- no-name clocks on Amazon cost half this. I thought I was buying a Sharp product.

The projection displays backwards, so only useful if I point toward a mirror and displays smaller than the screen. Also, the full display is barely readable unless the room is dark. Nothing to do with dimming, just too much much glow from non pertinent number segments (always looks like 88:88)

Way too bright! Lights up my whole bedroom at night and no way to dim it. The projection works great and I love that feature but can't deal with the brightness. Not worth $25 bucks. Taking it back.

Its been months since I last shopped at Target, due to the terrible experice i had the last time i was in the store. Decided to give it another try, and once again, I'm disappointed! When i took the clock out of box i noticed there was no plastic attached to the screen to protect it, PLUS there were fingerprints all over the screen. I go to plug it in and the display looks green and nothing like the picture on the box.

Hard to see and weak projector

I bought 2 of these to put in classrooms for AP testing so all students could see the clock. It was a complete waste of money. You can only see the display if you're sitting very close to the clock, and the projector feature only works if the surface you're projecting onto is like a foot away. It also has to be VERY dark in the room to see the projected time.

The display is dim to invisible except at a very small angle. The projector is even dimmer - so dim I couldn't evaluate the sharpness of display unless in full darkness.

So bright that it looks like a nightlight or lamp. Can not dim display, how dumb is that?! Projection is strange. Have to maneuver just right to get it to display in right direction on ceiling. All in all not a very flexible clock. Looks nice though. Haven’t used alarm or usb charger.

The display on the screen is terrible. Very hard to read unless standing right in front of it. The projector is completely worthless.

If you want a clock you can see from across the room, please look in to a wall clock instead.

Why on earth would anyone design a clock with a projector meant to display the time on a wall or ceiling in the dark, yet have no way to dim the front display, which lights up the room brightly enough to interfere with sleep. It's like Buddy the Elf's father designed it... "It won't dim? Who cares, ship it anyway! The idiots won't notice!" Ridiculous. Returned.

Hi Mark, thank you for your feedback. You actually can dim the front display of the clock by using the button that says "dimmer" on it. If you did not notice the button, it is also explained in the instruction manual how to dim the front display. Sad to hear you returned the clock before you noticed this feature.
