Description
The Qdos Adhesive Fridge/Freezer Lock comes in both white and chrome to complement your kitchen décor, while keeping curious toddlers out of harm’s way from glass containers, raw meat and other dangers that lurk in a refrigerator or freezer. The Qdos Adhesive Fridge/Freezer Lock fits double door refrigerators, with or without drawers, and is adjustable in depth to accommodate doors and drawers up to a thickness of 5.5”. Unlike other locks that require two hands to open, our Fridge/Freezer Lock is easy to operate with one hand, and it’s easy to remove without damaging the surface when you no longer need it.

Q: Could an 8-year-old figure out how to dismantle this? Or is it designed more for safety rather than unauthorized snacking?

A: We recommend installing the Fridge/Freezer lock as high up on the fridge as possible if you have a side by side fridge/freezer combination. If you have fridge on the top and freezer on the bottom, an 8-year old may be able to figure out how to remove the mushroom cap and thus get in the fridge or freezer. By installing the Qdos Fridge/Freezer Lock at the highest part that the adults can still safely remove, it keeps it out of sight for the kids trying to get in.

Q: Can this lock be placed on wooden kitchen cabinets that open as side by side refrigerator doors

A: The Qdos Fridge/Freezer lock will be too large to use on standard wooden kitchen cabinets. We would recommend using the Qdos Adhesive Double Door Lock for that instance as they are specifically designed for side by side kitchen cabinets.

Q: Does this lock automatically relock when the refrigerator door is closed?

A: The Qdos Fridge/Freezer lock does not automatically relock once the fridge is open/closed. It has a detachable mushroom cap that is removed manually when getting into the fridge/freezer and then will need to be replaced to lock the fridge/freezer. After reading all the positive reviews I figure this would be the perfect lock to keep my small children out of the refrigerator.. boy was I wrong! This lock is flimsy and hard to use even for an adult!! It takes more time for me to try and get it off to open the door half the time I won’t even use it. It’s not an easy open and takes more time to try to remove it you may as well just leave it off the refrigerator. For the price you pay I’d expect better quality. When the item is on it works as it should but taking it off is a pain.

WARNING! This worked brilliantly (except the springs were a bit stiff to unlock). HOWEVER, after a few weeks I believe it nearly killed my fridge. The guy fixing it had to replace the compressor and was 100% confident it was this (the part that attaches to the fridge) that did it. It prevented a clean seal *just* enough (pinprick of light at each end) that the compressor had to work overtime and couldn't survive.

I'm glad this product works and installation was a breeze. There is a piece that you have to cut so don't be afraid if didn't cut it short enough, you can adjust it. My toddler can't get into the fridge & freezer now, so I am happy.

I would find myself constantly removing her from the kitchen and cleaning the food wasted. No more thanks to this wonderful refrigerator lock. Complicated enough that she can’t figure it out but easy enough for me to quickly lock and unlock.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was a bit unimpressed while installing this product. It seemed flimsy and I wasn’t convinced it would work well. I was pleasantly surprised. It does the job well! My son can monkey climb on the fridge, while pulling on both handles (we have a side by side) and the doors don’t budge at all. The reason I knocked one star off is because it takes a lot of strength to squeeze the buttons on the side that release the lock and unlock. If you can get around that issue, this is a great product!

I have used many child safety locks while raising my young kids (and managing pets who like to open cupboards, etc) but have never seen one that looks so modern! The lock fits so well with my decor. We have a chrome fridge/ freezer and it compliments it, instead of sticking out like a sore thumb. It was really easy to install, and even easier to use. It’s also safe if one of the kids tries to get it off. (they can’t)! It gives me peace of mind that they aren’t getting into somewhere that they shouldn’t be. I love this product, my opinion is that it far surpasses my expectations and experience I’ve had with other child locks. I highly recommend this product!

They often accidentally leave it open too leaving me completely frustrated. This lock has solved all of our toddlers refrigerator woes! So we resulted in putting a lock on the fridge. This lock FINALLY works and he is not able to figure out a way around it like he had others we used. It is so simple and thank goodness he hasn't figured it out yet (hopefully he won't).
