Q: Has anyone noticed it makes a high pitched buzzing noise when in use? Only audible to the person whose ear it's in? I wasn't sure if that's how this one is or if mine is defective.

Summary of reviews
The ear otoscope and forehead thermometer have received mixed feedback from guests. Many appreciate the otoscope for its ease of use, clear visuals, and ability to check for ear infections at home, providing peace of mind. The forehead thermometer is praised for its quick readings and silent mode, making it ideal for restless toddlers. However, some guests express concerns about accuracy and build quality, suggesting that while these tools are helpful, they may not replace professional medical advice.

Don’t read the other reviews! This thing is junk. The light is not bright enough to see anything.

HORRIBLE. Can’t see a single thing, definitely not an eardrum. Cheaply made and waste of time. I should’ve just went to the doctors but I thought this would save me time if it wasn’t an infection but this device doesn’t even let you see in the ear enough to tell if there is one

Thanks for your review! We would like to express our sincerest apologies for the device's inability to illuminate to see into the ear canal. We're empathetic towards your sentiments and they're valid. It's tough enough to tend to an ailing child, it makes it considerably harder when the devices that we're reliant upon to soothe them fail us. Please contact our Consumer Care team at 800-544-1108 and we'll address the matter with the appropriate care it deserves.

We love our Safety 1st Ear Otoscope! It's designed to prevent over-insertion (even with baby q-tips, I still get worried when it comes to those little ears), the soft LED light makes for easy and clear viewing into those cute ears, and it's washable (so no purchasing those tiny covers I can never seem to find in the store). It's amazing how much more I can see! I can make sure my son's ears stay clean and when he starts to show signs of a possible infection, I can check things out before racing to the pediatrician!
If Necessary

First of all I do not think this product is necessary unless you want it. This product does what it says it does. Personally if I feel like something is wrong with my baby I take her to the doctor. Not everyone has that privilege so I think in those scenarios it would be beneficial and I would recommend this product.
Good quality product

It was very hard to maneuver into the ear. The cover didn't make sense since it didn't really cover to bottom so I feel dust might get into the otoscope.

My little man is prone to ear infections. Having this otoscope has been such a peace of mind. I can take a look and know if I need to take my little guy into the doctor. So glad we have it so he doesn't have to suffer to long before we seek treatment.

Very easy to use and juggle even with multiple littles. It helps me with peace of mind and, more recently, with monitoring an ear infection. It has smooth edges, so it doesn't irritate sensitive skin.

It's a simple product that can help determine if your little one has an ear infection. Our little one is teething, but can present as an ear infection. It's nice to use to be in the safe side. If you have ANY suspicion of an ear infection, please bring them to the doctor.
Give it a try

This Otoscope is amazing not is designed with thenparentninnmind not is easy to use and I can see the ear canal as well As the ear drum so well. The only negative is that you have to hold the light button to keep it on so at some angles it is inconvenient. The viewing lense is nice and large. And it is easy to hold.

This was a great little product to look inside your kids ears, I used it to see if they had an ear infection. I didn't use it often , only when the kids had an earache

We adore having this on hand as a parent of a new baby and a preschooler. It gives us peace of mind and helps us gauge when to call the doctor with the help of the reference guide.

Never knew I needed this until I got one. My son has cerebral palsy and not able to clean his own ears. This has helped tremendously for quick checks.

MOMS, it's very rare that I say this but if you do not have this you NEED it. Had I have had this earlier in life when my other kiddos were babies I can not tell you the amount of doctor visits we would have saved! Safety 1st has come out with an Ear Otoscope that helps take the guesswork out of ear infections so you can know whether it is time to make a doctors appointment. With the Ear Otoscope, you can easily get a gentle glimpse into your child's ear and use Safety 1st's quick guide to find out whether it's time to see a doctor. It comes with a washable, reusable tip and a Soft LED light for easy viewing. I can't even begin to tell you how many times in the past we have taken our babes to the doctor thinking they had an infection only to be told their ears were clear and it was just "teething." This would have been a lifesaver!! It's so clear we could even see our daughters ear tubes in her ear, crazy!
Not pro version, but it works

It's not a professional version, but it works ok. Also, it makes a weird noise in your ear when you press the light, so it may scare your kids when you try to use it.
Neat

True story - I assume one of our children has an ear infection every week. Whether they're tugging at their ears more than usual, running a low-grade fever, or just extra fussy, I always seem to suggest, "we should look in their ears." My husband is a PA and has an otoscope, so technically, we *could* check their ears every week... but you better believe he wasn't looking after my third.... or twentieth.... request. But that doesn't mean I wasn't still worrying! So I am incredibly grateful that Safety 1st sent us a fool-proof otoscope that I can use whenever I want, without having to call our doctor or husband. It has a soft tip that fits comfortably in the ear, and the design helps prevent over-insertion, which is why I would be nervous about using my husband's otoscope. ????????There's a super easy-to-use guide for non-medical people (like myself ????♀️) to reference so I know when it may be time to call the doctor or when I don't need to worry. I'm so excited to have this simple tool enter our First Aid Kit as a momma. Little things like this remove a bit of the stress from the winter months when ear infections peak, especially when trying to minimize our doctor appointments and exposure to other people!
