Q: Is there a latch system in both rear and front facing modes? The reviews on safety 1st website show that many people have difficulty keeping the seat from falling over in front facing mode.

The Safety 1st Grow and Go Comfort Cool All in One Convertible Car Seat does not utilize a separate base, the base will come permanently attached to the shell. The seat itself will install in the vehicle and is not designed to be used as a carrier.

Great car seat and gets the job done for the price. Whoever is complaining about it not being secure isn’t installing it correctly unfortunately. If you follow the video it mentions exactly how to properly tighten the car seat. You must apply pressure to the seat by the bottom buckle and tighten at the same time.

So no hate at all I do like this car seat (although it is the only car seat I have ever bought) but the installation isn't as easy as the booklet shows nor the videos I've seen on YouTube. But I did as the booklet said and instead of using the provided straps and latches I used my seat belt and threaded it through the seat. Now this sucks. The padding is sharp and extremely hard to get your hand through, I have small hands and it was a painful time getting it through. But once through I buckled it in and pulled as tight as I could and the bottom or base of the seat was secured. Wouldn't even move a quarter inch. However with the rear facing installation the top part of the car seat where the baby's head goes moves around. Like it's loose and needs to be secured. Nowhere does anyone say that this is supposed to be that way, not in the booklet not in the brands YouTube video. However after reading all the reviews and watching many videos on a lot of platforms I finally saw someone talk about it and apparently it's supposed to be that way. Over all it takes less than five minutes to install and it's super easy to buckle kiddo in and he seems to enjoy being cocooned in there so 4 stars. Oh also the cooling fabric is awesome especially being in Texas with temps being 100+. My son is a sweater, and with our long commute 40+ mins to his grandmas daily he comes out dry and no red faces! One taken off for the skin that was taken off my hands

The first one I got I didn't want in that color but the one I wanted was sold out. Okay, it happens, I should have kept looking for another one. The first one installed great, seemed comfortable for my kiddo and worked properly. Unfortunately after two months (about 25 uses) the tether strap between the legs started fraying. Bad seem, I guess but it spread up 6 inches within two trips... Not good, no replacement part, had to replace whole seat.... Two months. My color wasn't available but the one I originally wanted was, okay, awesome. Send it. Between waiting for responses and delivery, I waited almost two weeks - unacceptable. Second one looks great. Installs great. Then.... Yep, I got one with the tightening problem. It is literally impossible for me to tighten using the tether strap. I Have to tighten from behind the seat, which isn't ideal in any situation but I have a compact car and can barely reach behind the seat. NOT HAPPY! I'm a single mom and you have now wasted the two most precious things that I have (besides my precious cargo of course): time and money. I don't understand how this straps issue is even a possible after years and years of complaints. After the first seat worked properly, I thought the problem was resolved. What is going on?! I'm just so upset.

I don't understand why this company is allowed to make and sell car seats. Can we all get together for a class action lawsuit? I have 2 different models, one for each car. I got them because of the low price. I understand "you get what you pay for" but these are car seats...meant to keep kids safe. There is nothing safe about these. Installing it rear facing was fine. Installing forward facing is impossible, the anchor/tethers do not reach. The straps are CONTANSTLY getting tangled. When yoy have a wiggling toddler who fights sitting the car seat, it's frustrating trying to figure out how to untangle them. You end up giving up on trying or you think it's straight, but now you can't tighten the straps no matter how hard you pull. There's nothing you can do, it stops where it stops and your toddler either figures out how to get an arm out or falls very foward when they fall asleep.

Purchased the car seat almost years ago for my husband's car . Material is nice ,easy to clean but the harness staps have been a headache for past year . The straps are so stiff and can not be tightened at all. Regardles how much strength we apply it's never tight enough. Waste of money and does NOT serve the purpose!

I would never buy this product again. It is not safe....I have installed it and reinstalled numerous times, but the car seat will not stay tight, therefore falls over while I am driving. I am reporting this car seat. It should not be sold.

I got this car seat for my 27lb 19 month old as I switched her from the car seat she was in because I'm currently expecting my second. This car seat isn't bad to put back together / wash. But to install it over and over is not user friendly. I've never been able to tighten the straps to where the car seat is held against the seat properly. I wish I never would have bought this car seat. It's like the straps literally just don't get any tighter after a certain point, and when it gets there, it's still not tight enough to meet safety regulations. I won't buy this car seat or this brand of anything ever again.
