Q: Can the gate be installed at an angle?

submitted by emilyemily - 4 months ago
  • A: That's an excellent question! We're incredibly grateful for your interest in our brand. The Safety 1st Ready to Install Gate is not tested in that manner, so we are unable to confirm if it can be utilized in that manner. Q: We need to install a gate in a doorway. The door is gone but the stops remain. Removing them neatly is a challenge. Can I use wood spacers under the bracket mounting holes to bring them flush with the surface of the stops?

submitted by Brooks - 4 years ago
  • A: Hello, thank you for your question! This model requires the bumper to be 100% on a flat surface, we do not recommend using wood spacers to install the gate.

Q: Can the gate be lifted off the hinges once its installed ? I'm actually wanting to be able to do that

submitted by amy - 4 years ago

Q: Can this be used at an angle across an uneven stairway? If so, how far can the offset be for it to still latch properly?

submitted by emalo - 4 years ago
  • A: Hello! The gate will need to fit flush against the surface on both sides of the gate.

Q: Can you use this with an installation kit to install to one banister? Or use a clamp?

submitted by Liv - 5 years ago

Q: The choking hazard warning seems weird so are there small parts that come off after the gate has been mounted or what is that talking about?

submitted by CarmenNeedsGate - 5 years ago
  • A: Hello there! The Safety 1st Ready to Install baby gate includes hardware for mounting the unit. We must properly label the child product for safety.

Excellent gate for strong toddler

5 out of 5 stars

Our 1-year-old loves walking around the house and trying to go up and down every step constantly. We have a permanent metal gate at the top of the stairs, but were using a wooden fold-up gate at the bottom. It worked while he was crawling, but once he started walking he figured out how to pull it down easily no matter what MacGyver techniques we tried to attach it to the stairwell. This Everywhere Gate was the perfect solution. It is extremely sturdy and the neutral color helps it blend well with any decor. We can open and close it easily, but it is strong enough to withstand all toddler attempts to get through. Hooray for no more stress at the base of the stairs!

Easy assembly, sturdy gate but hard to open

This gate looks great and is very sturdy. The assembly instructions were very easy to understand and execute. I find it very difficult to open the gate. I have to use two hands and despite following the directions closely it does not open easily. I cannot open it while holding my toddler.

Easy to install with simple instructions. Perfect for the top of our stairs to keep our 22 month old from venturing downstairs. Must choose a permanent location, as this gate drills into the wall.

We put this gate at the top of our stairs. It is very sturdy and easy for my five year old to open and close, yet keeps my 21 month old safely away from the stairs. My husband installed it rather quickly and it looked easy enough to put in (I'm confident I could have installed it myself).

I placed this gate at the top of the stairs, right outside of my daughter's play area and bedroom. Now that she's on the move, the stairs were a huge concern for us! This gate was easy to install, and I trust that it will keep her safe.

Very very easy to install just don't take the instructions off the front like my husband almost did. Only con for us was it's just a little too short for our large kitchen opening but we ended up being able to use it on a set of stairs. Great for dogs too!

Great product. Very easy to install and use. You do have to anchor it in the wall. This is great for a one hand process while holding baby.

I was nervous with my kitchen being easily accessible to my 9 month old crawler and partial walker. This gate is fantastic! It fits right in my kitchen doorway and it keeps the baby out. I was nervous that it wouldn't stay up because we are renting I didn't want to drill holes. NON NEEDED. Easy instal and its flat so easy to store when not in use. This should be on every baby registry!

I wanted to love this

What drew me to this gate was that it specifically said it could be mounted to drywall and that there were no anchors needed. However it's been 5 days and only myself and my husband have touched the gate and all but one of the screws came out of the drywall. It was also not as easy as it says to install. Yes, the installation per the directions was quite easy, but something must have been off with the guides on mine (the guides are really like cardboard boxes) because after it was installed it did not close right. I needed to undo everything I did on one side and put more holes in the wall. Now I can't even use the gate and have ended up with many large holes. I'm extremely disappointed and wish I had listened to the reviews that warned about this.

Five Stars for a reason! When they say ready to install...they mean, do you have about 4-5 minutes to spare! That's how long it took to put in our doorway! I used a power drill and the screws in the box and was done before my wife even knew I started! It opens and closes easier than our other Safety 1st extra wide baby gate. I love everything about this gate except that you have to drill into the wall. No threshold for my son to trip on when I open the gate, which is great. Overall two thumbs up from this dad!

We are grandparents and this gate is fantastic for us. We have the safety we need - when we need it and we can lift and remove the gate when not required for long periods. It is sleek, sturdy, light weight and we love the grey colour! We are fans of most every Safety 1st product, we have many. Thank you for making quality products with common sense features that are stylish!

Product is unsafe

Installed product per manufacturer's instructions. The issue we are having with ours is that the clamps that set the width do not hold position properly. Our gate popped open when our 1 y/o pushed on it. Fortunately I was there and caught her. Upon inspection of the gate I found the lower clamps had allowed the gates bottom latch to become disengaged. I re-adjusted the gate and opened it and closed it a few times and once again found that the bottom latch was out of adjustment. This design is going to kill a child, the latches are clearly poorly designed (I am a design engineer who designs machines and safety guarding) and I even recall making a comment to my wife that I didn't like the locking mechanism. I've since retrofitted my gate so it is no longer adjustable. Again do not buy, this gate will kill a child some day. Keep your children safe. Had the incident happened at work we would have had to file a near miss report with OSHA for a potentially fatal event.

This Gate is a parent's dream!

I cannot stress how easy this gate is to install! As a parent, trying to figure out what gate would work out best in our home was a job in itself. Once we realized that our toddler was very independent when it came to stairs, we knew we needed to make some decisions. Since this is our second child (and much more active than our first), we did a lot of research on a gate for Top of the Stairs (needs to be a hardware mount) and ease of installation because NO PARENT HAS HOURS TO INSTALL A PRODUCT. You literally pull the gate out of the box, open the locks at the top, slide the gate open to the size of your staircase (or opening), tighten the screws (the screws are amazing! They look like wall dog screws), lock the gate and you are done. It literally took 7 minutes. The gate is so sturdy and it was one of the best purchases I have made so far in parenthood. Time is money now a days!

Worst baby gate ever

This gate really really sucks. It's VERY hard to open on your own, nevermind while holding a baby. The latch seems to come out of the hole on its own??? I don't know who designed this but they should be fired. I regret spending the last hour screwing it into my wall.

Perfect Gate

We have been looking for a gate that works on our staircase at the bottom of our basement stairs. We use our basement as the play room, and we've had a hard time finding something that works to keep our 11 month old out, but our 2.5 year old in. When we found this gate, we were extremely happy that as soon as we opened it, we saw it was different than other gates we tried. It was easy to install (to long thin plates that attach to the wall on each side) and it expanded to the width that we needed. The handle is tricky enough that our toddler can't open it, but if we leave it unlocked and open, he can go up and down without tripping on the base. We have tried a few others and he would fall over the bottom piece when trying to go up and down. It's extremely sturdy and supported both my 2.5 year old trying to mess with it (haha) and my 11 month old pulling himself up on it. I am extremely happy with this product and will be purchasing another for our upper staircase as well!

There is too much play in the plastic hinges. As soon as the blocks were removed and the door opened for the first time the weight of the door made the latch side sag and not line up. Easy to install, annoying to use.
